There are many hotels in Downtown Durango. If you want Western charm and a true Durango Icon, stay at the Strater Hotel. The Rochester and Leland House are both darling B & Bs. 2 new Hotels are opening in the spring, AC and Hampton Inn. Just peruse downtown Durango hotels if you want walkable downtown fun! June is HIGH tourist season so don't wait!!

There is a Hampton Inn on Camino del Rio in North Durango. A pretty new Holiday Inn right on the river just adjacent to downtown. Other hotels can be found by the movie theatre and on Hwy. 160 (you'll be driving to get back and forth to do things downtown FYI).
