We first met in September 2015, when Catherine's house of girls and Alan's house of guys met for the first time, beginning a long lasting friendship between two community houses. Little did we know that two years later, after casual hangouts with friends and mingly at church, would we start a relationship.

In October 2016, we went on a date, drinking hot chocolate and talking about life, as we weren't the best of friends at that point. We had amazing conversation about our faith journeys, our dreams, and discovered our mutual passion for worship, missions, and working with children. Catherine had no idea Alan had feelings for her, and after a second date and Alan courageously pursuing Catherine, she gently declined his request to start a relationship. A few months went by with no prospects of a relationship happening, until January 2017.

We were leading worship at a church event, beginning to rekindle our friendship. In a instant, Catherine had a change of heart towards starting a relationship with Alan, realizing there was a chance that they could have an amazing relationship. After a coffee and study date, Catherine shared with Alan her change of heart towards starting a relationship with him, and on February 25, 2017, we began our relationship journey.

Since then, we have travelled the world together, lead worship at multiple church events, and built a relationship on our mutual love of God and passion to love others. We seek to build community with others, be a support for our loved ones, and build His Kingdom every day through our relationship.

After many months of talking and praying about marriage, Alan proposed to Catherine on September 29, 2018, and she said YES! It was spontenous (in typical Alan fashion!) and beautiful, a complete surprise! We celebrated with friends in Kelowna that weekend, and have been rejoicing in this incredible next step with many people who have loved and supported us over the years. And now, we are very excited to get married!
