Our Wedding

Evan and Catherine love to win... So naturally, when Evan tried his luck with an Instagram DM to Catherine for the first time during Super Bowl LVI, he asked a simple question: "Is your team winning?" As you could have guessed... that conversation didn't last long. Kicking himself, Evan decided to leave it be. Having met Catherine at Grace City Church in 2021, Evan was hopeful to win her attention one day, but it would have to wait.They both carried on, Evan living in Bend, Oregon and staring bootcamp in the face, and Catherine living in Beaverton, Oregon on a sabbatical from college.Six months after the first feeble attempt, Evan tried his luck again... this time in a setting that took the cake. August 7th happens to be a very special day in the soon-to-be Munn household as it is Catherine's birthday! What was supposed to be a simple "Happy Birthday!" message in 2022 turned into a year of drastic life changes for the both of them.After several late-night phone calls on opposite sides of the state, Evan trucked over to Beaverton to take Catherine out on the all-important first date. There was a waterfall, there were tacos, there were margaritas, and they STILL made it to church on Sunday. Talk about a win! Evan and Catherine started dating on August 20th, 2022. They were now faced with a question they both had to answer individually: "God, now what?"God answered.Evan moved back to Corvallis and moved in with the Ellis family to pursue... well, he wasn't quite sure. He just knew God had a plan, and he now had a smokin' hot girlfriend.Catherine moved to Corvallis shortly after to finish her undergrad at Oregon State University.

The Beginning

After moving to Corvallis, Evan's military career became troubling. While serving in the National Guard, he had been tossed and turned in several different directions without any clarity. Meanwhile, Catherine was making ends meet by working nightshifts at an Amazon warehouse while still going to school full-time. Things were not easy in the early parts of 2023, but they continued to press into what the Lord had said in Philippians 1:6, "...being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" They prayed, He heard. In February 2023, Evan learned there was a new sheriff in town by the name of Greg Dalby. He would take the reigns as the new head coach of Evan's Alma Mater, so he popped in the office to simply say hello, and welcome him to Corvallis. One question changed the course of Evan and Catherine's lives for good. Dalbs asked Evan, "Do you have any interest in coaching?" By February 2023, Evan was the Goalkeeper Coach for the Oregon State Men's Soccer Program.Not a month later, Catherine went from warehouse to House... of Representatives. Catherine was offered a role with the Chief Clerk's Office in the Oregon House of Representatives as the Civics Education Program Coordinator. Funnily enough, this opportunity came to her by the hands of an old friend of Evan from his early soccer days in Olympia, Tim Sekerak. Evan and the Oregon State Men's Soccer Program would go on to the Final Four that year, and Catherine would finish out her degree and the entirety of the 2023 House Session. She would later continue working at Jim Kuhlman's State Farm in Corvallis.

The Blessings

With Evan and Catherine working long hours and with a successful Oregon Fall season in full swing, Evan received a text that would uproot he and Catherines comfort in Corvallis altogether. Hey kid, any interest in coaching pros? One phone call with the ole wizard, Darren Sawatzky, is all it took. By January 10th, 2024 Evan and Catherine were heading to Richmond, Virginia, giving them all of two weeks to plan The Move. They would brave 3 blizzards, 11 states, and upwards of 50 hours on the road in their trek across the country (p.s., Kansas sucks). In the end, it was clear that God had numbered their steps and made their path already. They arrived in Richmond on January 15th to the welcoming home of Darren and Ginny. Bellies full of tacos, and eyes glazed-over, they went to bed that night overwhelmed with gratitude for all that God and His people had done for them. Sadly, Catherine had to go back to Corvallis for a couple months to pack her things and wrap up her undergrad. Though they had to do long-distance, this meant that Evan could plan his big surprise. He thought it might be courteous to make sure Catherine had a ring to go along with her new life in Richmond. When Catherine arrived in Richmond (this time for good), she settled back in with Evan and prepared to start her new job as a legislative process consultant (Evan is still unsure what that means). On April 6th, 2024 after a successful win for the Richmond Kickers, Evan convinced Catherine that the team photographer, Jess Hendricks, needed some Instagram shots to announce Evans new position with the club. Instead, Evan dropped to his knee, grabbed Catherines hand, and said He who finds a wife, finds a good thing and asked her to marry him. Thankfully, she said yes. Evans team, at last, was winning. Evan and Catherine have many to thank, all of whom are reading this now; to Uncle Phil for putting up with Evan in Bend while he figured out life after college; to Catherines mom who housed her in Beaverton during her sabbatical; to the Ellis family, who were offended that Evan even asked if they would be willing to house him during his transition back to Corvallis; to Tim Sekerak for providing Catherine an opportunity to pursue her dream to work in the legislative environment; to the Colonel who processed Evans discharge from the Oregon Army National Guard to pursue his dream of coaching soccer at the highest levels; to the Dalby family for their prayers and leadership; to the men and women of Grace City Church for their persistent prayer and intercession; to the Sawatzkys, who housed Evan and Catherine their first few months in Virginia; and to Mom, Dad, and Stacy for providing endless support, relentless love, and guidance. Evan and Catherine cant wait to see you all in December 2025 to celebrate the biggest win yet.
