Q + A

Will this wedding be a Catholic Mass?

Yes! Our wedding will be a full Mass lasting approximately one hour. This means Holy Communion will be distributed.

What is expected of me in a Catholic church?

Guests are encouraged to participate in spoken and sung responses, which will be printed in your wedding program. In the church, you will see artwork, symbology, candles, kneeling benches, and holy water, which are all intended to aid in worship. Catholic guests may know to make certain conventional gestures and postures, but these are all personal expressions of faith, and no one is obligated to know or follow them. We are just glad you are here to celebrate.

What about communion?

The Catholic church only allows Catholics in good standing to receive Holy Communion, but non-Catholics are invited to come forward to receive a blessing during communion, if you desire. To do this, cross your arms over your chest so that the priest will know not to administer communion. You are also welcome to remain in your pew, if you prefer.
