Our Wedding

We met in Nashville through our mutual friend, Jessie. I was visiting some friends, and Catherine was working as a travel nurse in Nashville and what started as a simple walk at Shelby Bottoms Greenway turned into something that changed both of our lives. It wasn’t meant to be a date, just a hangout, but from the moment we saw each other, something clicked. My golden retriever, Captain, came along too, tugging at the leash with all the energy in the world, leading us down the trail without knowing just how much was beginning. But somehow, he did know. As we walked together, Captain sensed that something had shifted. He was no longer just along for the ride. He had found his family. We spent the rest of that week together, making the most of every free moment. One day, we took a trip to Chattanooga and went on a hike that showed us just how much we both love being outdoors. It was quiet and simple and we were surrounded by sunshine and trees. A few weeks later, we planned our first real adventure. Over Fourth of July weekend, we both flew to Denver and took off on a road trip that would end up shaping our future. We started in Moab, Utah, where we stayed in a cozy little cave Airbnb tucked into the red rock. We spent our days hiking through canyons, laughing until our cheeks hurt, and camping under the stars. It was one of those trips that changes everything. We felt more like ourselves than ever before, and we’ve been going back to Moab ever since. On that same trip, we explored Colorado, which is now our home. We camped in the mountains of Telluride, wandered around Glenwood Springs, and hiked in Vail. Every stop felt like a glimpse into the life we were building together, even if we didn’t fully realize it yet. Not long after, we both separately decided to move to Denver. It felt like the universe had quietly set the stage, and we just stepped into the life we were meant to build together. On September 16, 2024, standing at the top of Mt Falcon Park with the sun overhead and the city below, I asked Catherine to marry me and she said yes! Captain was there too, tail wagging like he had known all along. Today, we live in Denver with Captain, who proudly claims both of us as his own. We spend our weekends mountain biking, hiking, car camping, and always finding time to get back to Moab. The three of us are a family now, and life together feels like the greatest adventure either of us could have hoped for.
