Our Heavenly Father brought us together for the first time on June 10, 2022, using that little wonder called an online dating service. Neither of us been on for very long and were on the verge of cancelling the service when Nelson reached out to Cathy with a message. We had a fun “getting to know” texting session, a two-hour FaceTime call the next day, and a few hours more hours on the phone that same night. And again the next day! Our lovely first date followed and we were immediately lost in each other’s conversation & eyes. “This is incredible what God is doing! I can’t believe I’m here with you. No way, me too!” Love was blossoming & excitement was in the air. Not a single day has passed since we met that we haven’t spent time together - either in person or by phone.
As we spent the summer & fall months getting to know each other better, we quickly realized God was doing something truly special and that we’d found “the one.” We've truly enjoyed getting to know each other’s family, church home, and friends. We have travelled, gone to numerous events, studied Scripture, worshipped the Lord, laughed, dreamed, smiled, smiled, and smiled together. We delight so much in one another that we knew our lives were meant to be joined together in the deepest & most intimate relationship that has God has blessed humanity with: marriage. God was calling us to walk the rest of our lives together.
On Jan. 1, 2023, after having served the Lord together at two worship services (Nelson preached & Cathy sang), we took a day trip up to Niagara Falls, NY. At American Falls, Nelson proposed on bended knee to Cathy. She gladly received his proposal, sparing Nelson the doom of having to throw himself over the Falls. Each step along the way, we’ve seen God at work. From leading Nelson to the local area after living elsewhere most of his life, to the precise moment and manner in how we met, there are so many evidences of His loving, gracious Hand in our lives. We both give Him all the praise for the blessing of His love, the gift of grace in Christ, and our relationship: “How precious is your steadfast love, O God!” (Ps. 36:7)
We are so excited to be starting our life together, and are grateful to each of you that will be part of our special day. We welcome your prayers as we begin our journey as husband and wife. Thank you for sharing our joy!
