Bald Head Island is located at the southernmost cape of North Carolina, where the Cape Fear River meets the Atlantic Ocean. The journey to BHI begins with a 20-minute passenger ferry ride from Deep Point Marina in Southport, N.C., and ends at the harbor at Bald Head Island.
While there are no hotels on Bald Head Island, there are plenty of vacation rental homes and two bed and breakfasts. We highly recommend that groups of friends and family consider booking houses together, not only for cost savings but also to enhance the overall weekend getaway experience!
If you would like access to additional amenities like golf and pool access, we encourage guests to book a rental home that comes with the option to secure a temporary membership at the Bald Head Island Club or Shoals Club.
We recommend booking your accommodations as soon as possible as homes do tend to book up quickly!
We strongly recommend renting a place on the island for the weekend! Each rental home comes with a golf cart or two at no additional cost. Below is a list of websites you can use to find on-island rentals. We suggest you book your rentals as soon as you officially know you are able to join us for our wedding!
If you would prefer to stay off island and commute over via ferry just for the day of the wedding, you may want to look into hotel rooms in the town of Southport, NC. We have listed a few options below:
Hampton Inn & Suites - Southport
Fairfield Inn & Suites - Southport
Wingate by Wyndham - Southport
If you are staying off the island for the weekend, a tram will be available at the Bald Head Island Club following the reception to transport you to the marina, where you will board the ferry back to Southport.
Deep Point Marina is where you will get on the ferry to be taken to Bald Head Island. Please download the Bald Head Island app or visit the Bald Head Island Ferry website to purchase your tickets and to read about the ferry schedule, tickets, and more! We recommend booking your ferry tickets in advance as they may sell out.
There are no cars on the island - only golf carts! So, you'll need to leave your vehicle parked in a secure lot on the mainland at Deep Point Marina. Parking is $12/day. Plan to arrive at the ferry terminal at least 30 minutes before your planned departure time to allow enough time to drop off your luggage, park your vehicle and get down to the loading zone.

Upon arriving to the island, you will hop on a tram that will take you to your weekend accommodations. Tram rides can be reserved through the app when you purchase your tickets. We recommend doing this as soon as you have your housing for the weekend booked. We also suggest booking your tram rides for your arrival as well as your departure as soon as you're able. All tram rides are included with the price of a ferry ticket. Since your rental golf cart will already be at your house, a tram is required for you to get between your accommodations on the island and the ferry terminal! Call the number below for any additional information regarding booking your ferry and tram reservations.

Once you are on the island, golf carts are your main source of travel. If you rented a house for the weekend, you will have a golf cart included and located at your rental. If you are staying in Southport or coming to Bald Head for the day, you may rent a golf cart through Cary Cart Company located near the ferry terminal. Advanced reservations are recommended. If you have questions, call the number listed below.

We recommend flying into Wilmington International Airport, as it is 45 minutes from Deep Point Marina. The Transporter Shuttle Service provides a shuttle from Wilmington International Airport to Deep Point Marina.
You can find more information here: https://www.nctransporter.com/taxi-service/in/deep-point-marina
Other nearby airports are Myrtle Beach International Airport (1.5 hours) and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (2.5 hours).
You will need a luggage tag on each piece of luggage you are bringing on the ferry (aside from carry-ons). This is so the trams will know where to drop your luggage off once you get to the island. Your luggage tag should include your name, phone number, and house address on the island. You can find a template for the luggage tags here (or you can make your own!): Luggage Tags
