By Summer 23, Catherine had long felt an inner nudge driving her to pack up and move. A fresh start in a new city - Salem, Massachusetts. Catherine began her job at the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) in September 23 and met Connor shortly thereafter. Connor had worked at PEM through his university years and remained a lifelong Salem resident/aficionado. When Connor learned that Catherine was new to the area and might need help moving once more, he saw it as an opportunity to get to know her outside of her professional role within the museum. Group dinners with mutual PEM friends soon turned into 1-on-1 movie nights and hours of talking long into the early morning. Catherine became enamored with Connor, who was equally charmed. The two had found their match. They shared stories of their past triumphs and hardships and loved each other all the more for it. Connor introduced Catherine to his cats, Louis & Amber, who she learned to love as acceptable alternatives to having a dog. Catherine introduced Connor to skiing, which he learned to survive after countless falls on the mountains of Vermont & New Hampshire. By Spring 24, Connor & Catherine decided that they didnt want to commute to one anothers homes any longer. They found an apartment in downtown Salem and began to pack each others belongings once more. In July 24, Connor sold his condo in Rowley, MA and Catherine concluded her studio apartment lease - the two were set to come together as one. The transition was seamless. For every empty shelf and cabinet that Connor moved in, Catherine had a corresponding book, antique, or art print that fit perfectly. Connor & Catherine loved living under the same roof and taking on the world together. They went on ski trips throughout the winter, attended a Ghost concert & Celtics games, took ferry rides into Boston, and even a trip abroad to France & Spain! Catherine loved being Connors girlfriend, but Connor knew that he wanted more in 2025... After celebrating his 27th birthday with dinner along Derby Wharf, Connor wanted to take some pictures at a nearby lighthouse. As the sun was setting on an already-perfect day, Connor dropped down to one knee to deliver the shock of a lifetime. Catherine was stunned - this was supposed to be HIS special day! Connor knew that no gift could compare to the life he had found in her and so he declared his intention, having received Catherines parents blessing several weeks prior. Catherine said yes to continue living in bliss alongside her perfect match, the one who makes her feel at home- no matter where they might be.

Parking in downtown Salem is very limited, especially during the month of September. Surrounding streets near PEM will be closed and heavy traffic will increase commute times. Plan ahead: secure parking by arriving earlier in the day- there are plenty of local sights to see in advance of the 6pm arrival time. If your hotel has parking, we recommend leaving your car in the hotel lot and walking or getting a taxi/Uber to drop you off closer to the venue.

The House of the Seven Gables is a 1668 colonial mansion in Salem, named for its gables. It was made famous by Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel of the same name.
