Our Story

Picture of Our Story

We met in our college community at Moody Bible Institute.

I (Kiki) saw Zay in our friend group; I thought he was a real dork and very homeschooled. He came in with bleached tips, but soon enough I saw his heart. Isaiah's heart for the Lord and deep thology caught my eye. His smile gave me butterflies, so I made sure I was around him. I had to get his number, so I did it in a very nosholant way, I told him I would help him with the new apple update and I slipped my number into his phone.

I (Zay) was completely oblivious to this dork who had a crush on me. I'll admit I must have been flirting with her, but it was not on purpose. I can remember when she got the courage to take me on a walk. We walked three blocks before she even got the courage to tell me what she was thinking.

I (Kiki) was so nervous, and I honestly expected him to tell me he liked me back, but this man (whom I love very much) told me he didn't know how he felt, and he needed a few days (he took 3-5 business days).

It was when she fell asleep on my shoulder driving home from Lake Geneva that I finally fell in love. But here's the thing, I had been praying for a while. I was complaining to God that if only a girl would come to me first, I would know it was God. And while I didn't know I liked her, I decided it must be real. So I asked her out.

He showed up a as my little dorky man, to this building on the Riverwalk. He sat next to me while I counted the windows and we chatted. I asked him why he would come down, and he said "cause I like you". Then he asked me out to noodles. That became "Our Building."

Her noodles were way too spicy on our first date, my dumplings were delicious. She took the opportunity of saving my life from a van in the crosswalk, before teaching me to fall in love by staring contest.

After our first date, we went on a long bus ride to Kentucky, which was so fun. We got to know each other so well and laughed a lot, not to mention I "fell asleep" on his shoulder on purpose.

Yeah, she snuggled me a lot.

You snuggled back! We did get car sick together, and learned that I cannot eat anything at Bucc'ees.

We had a few more dates at pizza places and the Art Museum a few times. We spent six beautiful months together, shared our first kiss, danced in the rain, and laughed through walks and road trips.

I proposed in front of that same building from seven months earlier. She said yes!

Here we are about to embark on this crazy adventure we call life. Entering into this life we have been praying for, and that we feel God is calling us to. Taking these moments to look back, God is such a good God, and answers prayers!!
