Every Love Story Is Great...But Ours Is My Favorite
Seriously—how cool is it that I get to marry my best friend!!!
The story started at the Huron County Fair, where we were both doing what we love: working! He as a deputy and me as an EMT. We also were both on golf carts and we both smiled when we saw each other. To this day, we both agree that each other’s smile is the first thing we noticed, and definitely attracted us to each other!
Time passed, we would run into each other at work on scenes; exchanging the casual: “hey Joe” or “hey Caylie” in passing.
Eventually, the time was right in March 2019. I had just finished an EMS run and he was running plates on route 20. We passed, I waved, and he messaged me shortly after.
The rest is history! Since then, we’ve become each others best friends and fell in love. Joe is my home and my adventure all in one. Together we enjoy the great outdoors, scuba diving, traveling, hiking, and any activity where we are together!
Even though we love our adventures and our goal is to see all 50 states (6 down!) we have just as much fun running to the grocery store (even though we both HATE grocery shopping)! See that’s the thing when you get to marry your best friend: the boring, terrible, awful stuff becomes fun! Because in the end, you always have each other and that is always more than enough. Joe has been by my side as the basement flooded and we laughed holding each other as the water poured in. He rushed to my side when the horse kicked me in the face and then made me laugh and snort blood from laughing so hard in the ER. He made jokes when I was in pre-op and held my hand as I recovered. This is love based on unrelenting acceptance, shoulders to cry on, and being each others rock and biggest supporters. I am lucky to have found Joe: my fiancé, future husband, best friend, and my entire world.
Here’s to the future—forever will never be long enough.
