Our first date back in late February was to a little beach inlet in St. Augustine, Florida. Neither of us actually expected to get to this point, just through a series of phone calls to one another we ended up here. I had warned Walker of the mud in the inlet as a way to see if he was easily scared off…but Walker persisted! He showed up to that date in a Santa Claus Hawaiian shirt and the goofy smile we all love. We ended up spending a couple hours in the water waist deep just talking, it was as if we had already known each other our whole lives. I mean how wild is it that we BOTH played tuba in high school? As the sun started going down neither of us wanted to end the night yet, and I wanted to show him a piece of why I loved Florida so much. Walker and I loaded up in my little red car and made way for Hastings, Fl to go see some of the best dirt roads in putnam county. During that drive we both talked about how similar our lives were and how we both loved the small town living. When I dropped Walker off to his car, I drove back to my house with that little girl giddiness. I walked into my house and got a text from Walker saying “you’re my girlfriend now btw”…
The next day my Dad was throwing a party for my uncle David who was going on hospice care. I invited Walker with manyyy warnings of my dad and how he can be a bit much, but really is a good person. Again, Walker persisted, showed up, and even asked if we could go to the movies after. From there, we just never stopped hanging out, and I met my best friend this way.
That’s our story from (my) perspective.
