If you plan to fly into San Diego, we recommend flying into San Diego International Airport, which is about a 20 minute drive to most of the hotel accommodations listed below.
If you are not planning to drive into San Diego, we strongly recommend either renting a car (can be rented through various rental car companies at San Diego airport) or using ride share apps (such as Uber or Lyft) to navigate around San Diego, as we do not have extensive public transportation available here. On the day of the wedding, guests will need to obtain transportation from their accommodations to The Immaculata Catholic Church (near Mission Bay in San Diego) for the ceremony, and to Darlington House (in La Jolla, San Diego) for the reception.
There are many hotels and locations to stay around San Diego that are not only convenient and in close proximity to the wedding ceremony/reception location, but can also place you close to the ocean and all that San Diego has to offer. We have included some recommendations based on region in San Diego ranging in price points.
Most desirable hotel locations in terms of proximity to the ocean would be in either La Jolla or Windansea (closest to the reception venue) or in Mission Bay (closest to the ceremony church). More budget friendly hotel options would be in either UTC (University Town Center) or Hotel Circle, which place you around a 15 minute drive from the ocean.
All hotels listed below are within a 20 minute drive radius or less to both the ceremony and reception locations, with some hotels in La Jolla/Windansea being walking distance from the reception venue.
The bride and groom both live in the UTC area and will be staying in UTC the week leading up to the wedding, and they will plan to stay in La Jolla the night of the wedding.
Located in the heart of downtown La Jolla and minutes to the ocean, La Valencia (nicknamed "the pink lady"), has been a luxurious place to stay in La Jolla for close to 100 years. $$$$
Boutique hotel located in the heart of La Jolla. Tends to be the cheapest option if looking to stay in the heart of La Jolla. Listed as "pet friendly" if anyone is traveling with any fur companions. Also a short walk to the ocean. $$$-$$$$
Oceanfront hotel located on the famous La Jolla Cove, which is just a short drive to downtown La Jolla. $$$$
Located in the heart of the famous La Jolla Shores coastline, this luxurious hotel provides ocean views and is a short drive to downtown La Jolla. Also a cheaper option if looking to stay in La Jolla. $$$-$$$$
There are two hotels right next to Windansea Beach. They are both close to Darlington House/La Jolla and could be a great place to stay for those looking to easily get home after the wedding and have easy access to the beach while in town.
Located in La Jolla just a short walk to Windansea Beach, a popular surfing spot. $$$
The hotel is just two blocks from Windansea Beach, a popular surfing destination, and only minutes from La Jolla Village. An MTS bus stop in only a few feet from the hotel, so you can get to La Jolla or University of California San Diego (ceremony location) without worrying about traffic or parking. $$$
Hotels in Mission Bay will place guests in closest proximity to the church/ceremony, along with easy access to Mission Bay and Mission Beach.
Secluded resort with ocean/bay view and private marina. $$$
Located in Mission Bay/Marina, this hotel and spa is located in a central spot for whale watching, sailing, and other water activities. $$$
Beachside resort located on a peninsula on Mission Bay. $$$$
UTC (University Town Center) provides more budget friendly hotel options, located approximately a 15-20 minute drive to both the ceremony location and reception venue. UTC is where Celine and Nick live and will be during the week leading up to the wedding. Most hotels around here range in a $$-$$$ price point.
This hotel offer a free shuttle within five miles, including to beaches, La Jolla Village (near reception venue), trails, and sports facilities.
Hotels/motels located in Hotel Circle are going to be the most budget friendly within proximity to both ceremony and reception venues (around a 15-20 minute drive to both). Please note that Hotel Circle will require Ubering/ride share or driving to most attractions/nearby towns as there are only a few restaurants and limited "things to do" in Hotel Circle (this area is primarily a place to sleep and grab a quick bite to eat). Most hotels/motels in this area range in price point of $-$$; we just listed a few options, but this area has so many options to choose from!
There are a plethora of Airbnb and Vrbo rentals all around San Diego that could be rented for the weekend with your party or a small group of friends. These tend to book up relatively quickly, especially in desirable locations such as La Jolla, Windansea, Pacific Beach, Mission Bay, etc. These rentals can range from renting an apartment/condo unit to an entire house-- offering privacy, kitchens, and often a parking spot. Would recommend looking in similar areas to the hotel recommendations to put you in closest proximity to the weekend events.
