Favorite Seattle Neighborhood Stays:

1. Fremont:This is where we lived on our second contract in Seattle! Walk to the main street, down along the canal, or to Gas Works Park for a beautiful sunset view of the mountains and city. Tons of recommendations if you stay here!2. Green Lake:Close to our house, surrounded by shops and beautiful homes, pickle ball courts, paddle boarding, and more-- the five mile loop around this lake is one of our favorites for a Seattle summer evening3. Upper Queen Anne:Another quaint neighborhood with its own shops, restaurants, and parks. Easy accessibility by car to rest of Seattle. Check out the Sushi Samurai for the best plant based meal ever and Queen Anne Book Company for our favorite bookstore4. South Lake Union:if you want that downtown Seattle feel, we'd recommend this over Belltown area. Tons to walk too, including Lake Union Park and Center for Wooden Boats (its cooler than it sounds!)5. Capitol Hill:Young, vibrant, full of good night life and restaurants. Easy to use light rail and public transit here. We love Volunteer Park and recommend any stay around there!5. Ballard:Tucked further away but an incredible weekend farmers market, some of our favorite restaurants, and unique feel. Tour Ballard Locks and walk to the beautiful botanical garden on the other side!Honorable mentions to Wallingford, Magnolia, and the University District

Seattle Activities: 

Be sure to book in advance, but float around South Lake Union with a view of the downtown and surrounding mountains in a hot tub! Seriously, google pictures, it's cool :)

Hot Tub Boats

A Chance favorite-- learn about Seattle and explore the unseen history of the city! Only about an hour long. (Spoiler alert: Seattle nearly burnt down and then they just rebuilt right on top of the old city, so that's what you get to see. Not Pompeii, but for 22 bucks--not bad)

Bill Speidel’s Underground Tour

Recreate one of Chance and Micaela's weird, first dates at this (probably unethical) roadside reptile zoo in Monroe, WA! Steps: hike Bridal Veil Falls (gorgeous), go here for reptile feeding time (watch an anaconda escape from its cage--thrilling!), and end with a delicious Italian dinner on your way back into town at Amaro in Bothell.

Pricey, but worth doing one time! The glass work is stunning and on a sunny day the installations outside are breath taking. Easy to add this on to your downtown Pike's Place/Space Needle/Waterfront loop :)

We love taking advantage of living in a city with many walkable neighborhoods, so our favorite easy activity is often going to a cafe, grabbing a drink, walking around a park, and getting lunch after! Some of our favorite combos for this are: Parks:1. Volunteer Park + Volunteer Park Cafe + Taurus Ox2. Green Lake + Retreat + Bongo's (Chance's favorite)3. Gas Works (sunset must)+ Stoneway Cafe (great spicy chai) + Mas Cafe (best breakfast burrito) Best Beaches:1. Golden Gardens2. Alki Beach3. Discovery Park

Three National Parks All Within a Drive:1. Mt. Rainier (Tahoma)2. North Cascades3. Olympic National Park We've spent time at all, so please text us and we will be happy to give you the list of can't miss outdoor adventures tailored to you! Not National Parks, but Beautiful Places to Relax:1. Bainbridge Island-- just a ferry ride away from downtown2. San Juan/Orcas Island3. Bellingham, WA4. Leavenworth, WA (a bit more touristy, but cool)5. Index/Granite Falls, North Bend, many of the surrounding mountain towns outside the city
