So we met during a local kickball game. Not romantic, but very much aggressive. Way more competitive than anyone should be on a random weeknight.

We were on opposite teams, the trash talk was serious, and his team lost. They left immediately, and I assumed that was the end of that chapter.

A few weeks later, we ran into each other at Sharkey’s—our favorite local dive bar. Seeing him again felt too perfect not to mess with, so I called him over and asked how he was holding up after that devastating loss. From there, we just… didn’t stop talking.

He lost the kickball game… and honestly he’s been losing to me ever since.
