Charlie and Cristina first met under extremely ordinary circumstances… during a highly classified international llama negotiation summit in Geneva.

Cristina was there as the world’s foremost expert in Conflict Resolution & Dramatic Eye Contact. Charlie, meanwhile, had been mistakenly invited after someone confused him with a Scandinavian diplomat named “Karl Gristensen.” Rather than correct the error, Charlie did what any reasonable person would do: nodded confidently and accepted the badge.

Their first interaction happened when a rogue llama escaped the summit ballroom and began aggressively judging everyone’s footwear. Cristina calmly locked eyes with the animal and whispered, “I understand you.” Charlie, attempting to help, offered it a bread roll and somehow made things worse.

Their eyes met across the chaos.

Time slowed.

Somewhere, a string quartet that was definitely not hired for dramatic timing began playing.

Cristina admired Charlie’s bravery under pressure (and mild confusion). Charlie admired Cristina’s ability to de-escalate both livestock and international tension without smudging her lipstick.

They spent the rest of the summit pretending to negotiate trade agreements while actually debating far more important topics — like whether pineapple belongs on pizza, who would survive longer in a zombie apocalypse, and how many throw pillows is too many (still unresolved).

After accidentally preventing a minor diplomatic incident involving glitter and a dessert cart, they knew this was more than coincidence.

It was destiny.

Or possibly a scheduling error.

Either way, they left Geneva not as diplomats…

…but as co-conspirators.

Since that fateful day, Charlie and Cristina have continued to face life’s great challenges together — from assembling furniture without arguments, to choosing what to watch when neither wants to decide, to bravely agreeing that yes, they can “just look” at rescue dogs.

Their love story may have started with a llama, but it’s been built on laughter, partnership, and a mutual agreement that if either of them is ever accidentally invited to another international summit, they’re both going.
