Our Wedding

From Katelynn’s perspective:  Our story began with a simple but bold Facebook message where I made all the attempts to flirt with Charlie and he “tried to play it cool”. It wasn’t until we brought up our dogs that our conversations flowed. We both agreed we wanted to meet in person and talk more and Charles was given the responsibility to pick the dinner spot. Which he played safe by suggesting Texas Roadhouse. And he offered to pick me up which I blindly said yes. Our date started off with him getting lost with google maps and having to call me to figure out where I lived. (We still talk about our first time seeing each other and how starstruck we were.) The small talk grew to full conversations about our friends and families, hobbies, likes and dislikes. Our wants and dreams and what type of people we were looking for. It wasn’t until our waiter spoke up did we realize we hadn’t ordered anything and spent over an hour just talking and getting to know each other. We stretched out the night by competing against each other over mini golf and a game of corn hole, which I dominated at and beat him at every game; and still continue to do so. The rest of it was history. We still talk about the times we prayed for each other and how we lived so close to each other. We know God has a plan for us and we are so happy we get to celebrate our wedding day with you all. We appreciate all your love and kindness over the years and hope to see you on our big day!

Our Meet Cute

Our second date was a four hour, round trip to Valles Pumpkin Patch in Omaha, Nebraska. It was amazing because we sang and talked the entire way there and back! I highly recommend taking a trip in your early stages of dating to ensure you can handle car rides together. Since that day, we have roadtripped to many places and hope to travel  to more together!

If you didn’t already know, I was deployed May of 2025; while Charles, his family, and my family took care of everything while I was gone. They looked after our dogs, handled finances while I was away, and looked after one another. I can’t thank them enough for the sacrifice and support they have given me while I was away. Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to leave. I want to take this time to thank the families and friends of those who have served. It’s because of your love and support that our service members can focus on their mission, knowing that everything back home is in good hands. Your strength, patience, and unwavering commitment often go unnoticed, but they are the backbone of every deployment. Whether it’s managing day-to-day challenges, sending care packages, or simply being there for a call in the middle of the night, your role is vital. So to all the families and friends who hold it down while their loved ones serve—you are just as much a part of this service as we are. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
