On August 29, 2020, Nick proved that distance is just a number and first impressions are everything. After driving three hours from Woodstock, GA, to Sterrett, AL, he didnt just meet Charlie—he met her dad and a truckload of furniture that needed moving! Before the first date even officially started, Nick was already part of the family “lifting” crew.The rest of the night was just as legendary. To make sure Charlie had the perfect evening, Nick showed up with multiple reservations in hand. They found themselves at Seasons 52. They spent hours lost in conversation, laughing until the restaurant closed. When Nick finally headed back to Georgia, Charlie’s mom turned to her and said, “You realize he’s the one, right?” Charlie’s answer was simple: “Yeah... I do.”

The One Where It All Began

Building a Home (and a Zoo!!)

Since that night, life has been one big whirlwind. In 2023, they traded the long-distance drives for a set of shared keys and moved into their first home. Of course, a house isn’t a home without a few extra paws! Their home quickly became a sanctuary for their three fur-babies. There’s Maxi, the pup and undisputed baby of the family; Simba, the once-feisty kitten who has found his mellow; and Nala, who might be shy around new people, but will always greet those she loves with her signature “eep!”

From AL to the Rest of the World

When they aren’t being the ultimate homebodies with their pets, Charlie and Nick are professional explorers. From the Great Wall of China, the streets of Thailand and the home of Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville (one of Charlie’s favorite singers), to their second homes at Disney and Universal, they’ve spent the last six years collecting passport stamps and core memories.

The Easiest “Yes”

When it came time to propose, Nick went back to where it all started: Charlie’s parents' front porch. In the exact spot where they first locked eyes (and where Nick first hauled furniture!), he asked her to spend forever with him. On August 29, 2026—six years to the day of that first 3-hour drive and the furniture-moving feat—Charlie and Nick are saying “I do.” We can't wait to celebrate the start of their greatest adventure yet!

The Lodge At Gulf State Park

There are plenty of condos, beach houses, and other stays to be found from Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, and a little further off the beaten path in Fort Morgan. You can rent from multiple different property rental companies as well as finding properties on Airbnb or VRBO. Beware some properties are listed on both property rental websites and Airbnb or VRBO and it is best to rent these specific properties directly from the rental site to avoid paying their lodging fees and Airbnb/VRBO’s lodging fees on top of that! Just a little tip when renting 😊 We can’t wait to see you all and hope you enjoy your stay in Alabama’s little slice of heaven on the coast.
