Mystic, CT was where Charlot and Vignesh spent much of their time while Vignesh was stationed in Groton. It’s home to some of the region’s best views, seafood, and beaches—perfect for exploring before or after the wedding. Below are some of the places that we recommend exploring!
Don't forget, the wedding takes place in a historic attraction, the Mystic Seaport Museum. You will have a chance to walk around during the reception!
Downtown Mystic, CT is classic New England charm at its best: a working historic drawbridge that splits the town, tree-lined streets, and waterfront views. Explore an excellent mix of restaurants (including three James Beard–finalist chefs), independent shops, and cozy cafés. Plan to enjoy the town’s lively evening scene—the Welcome Party on Friday is a great chance to sample Mystic’s nightlife.
One of our favorite non-profit aquariums to the country. You have to say hi to the Beluga Whales!
Visit Olde Mistick Village — a charming, 1720s–style colonial village with a Meeting House and more than 60 shops and restaurants. Stroll cobbled paths, browse independent boutiques and specialty food shops, and stop for a bite at one of the outdoor cafés; several well-known establishments have even hosted celebrity guests, such as Gordon Ramsey.
Groton, CT — about 10 minutes from Mystic — is the Submarine Capital of the World. Home to Electric Boat and two attack-submarine squadrons, it’s a fascinating stop for military and maritime history. Don’t miss stepping aboard USS Nautilus, the world’s first nuclear-powered submarine; public visits are free. The nearby Submarine Museum offers exhibits and artifacts that deepen the story — highly recommended!
Explore Charlot's running route in Bluff Point State Park. Close to Mystic, CT that offers amazing views of the Long Island Sound, if you are lucky you maybe able to watch a submarine going underway or coming back home!
Mystic, CT is also close to two of North America’s largest casinos: Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun. Foxwoods—one of the biggest—features extensive shopping at its Tanger Outlets, while Mohegan Sun is known for top-tier restaurants and entertainment. You might even spot Vignesh shooting some dice at the craps table late into the night.
