Winters in Boston can be rough... With that in mind, Charlotte and Ryan had planned a well needed getaway to Hawaii to visit Charlotte's younger sister, Alice. Charlotte had organized an adventure-filled vacation, full of hikes, snorkeling, sky-diving, and beach-bumming, but she had no idea that Ryan had plans of his own!

On their 3rd day in Hawaii, they had scheduled their sky-diving experience (Charlotte's birthday present from her sister Amelie). Alice went along for the ride! All three of them were beyond excited (and barely nervous!). They suited up in their harnesses and made their way on to the tiny plane which would take them up 14,000 feet above the northern part of Oahu. Ryan, who had been the last one on the plane, was the first one to jump. He looked excited but a bit nervous (according to Charlotte :) ). Charlotte watched then as Ryan dropped out of the plane free falling towards land. Charlotte was next, followed by Alice.

The free fall as they recall was exhilarating! Then they deployed their parachutes and coasted back to land, getting an amazing view of the island and even spotted a few whales off the shore.

Ryan landed first and quickly unhooked himself from his tandem partner, bent down to undo his shoe and retrieved the ring he had hidden in there for the ride.

At the same time, Charlotte was getting set for her (graceful) landing. Once on land and safely detached from the chute, still full of adrenaline, she rushed to hug Ryan! They made it! They had jumped out of a plane! After this quick celebration, Ryan pushed away from Charlotte, got down on one knee and said: " I have a question to ask you, will you marry me?" to which, with shaking legs, Charlotte responded: "Yes, of course!"

Charlotte's sister had then safely landed and came over to them for the celebration! She had been in on it the whole day!

Ryan and Charlotte enjoyed the remainder of their vacation in paradise as an engaged couple.
