David and Charlotte first met in Texas during a work party since his dad and her host dad worked together.

David moved to Lexington in 2018 and Charlotte's host parents moved to Louisville in 2019. In November 2020, while spending her winter break in Louisville, Charlotte reached out to David. They went to the Louisville Zoo, then hiked to a few different spots and tried a few breweries.

Their relationship became official on New Year. Charlotte had to go back to Iowa to finish her third year of vet school. Cooperative video games and long phone calls helped! David and Charlotte both traveled between Kentucky and Iowa multiple times, as well as visiting family in Pennsylvania, Texas and France.

Charlotte finally graduated vet school and moved to Lexington with her cat Finn (who was very happy to have two new sisters, Artemis and Hestia). A day later, they adopted a puppy, Thalpius. Later that year, Marzy joined the family. They now also have Echo and are at maximum capacity!

David proposed to Charlotte at the Natural Bridge, after what felt like a hefty hike. They celebrated their engagement with friends, pizza and drinks.
