Our Wedding

Our story began in Leeds in 2019, when Chau’s student visa had only six months left. Those months in England were unforgettable and love blossomed, but we couldn’t have known where our love would take us. Chau returned to Vietnam in early 2020. Two months later, David came to visit, not knowing that was the last time we would see each other for two long years… We were kept apart but our love grew stronger. Video calls at lunchtime for one and bedtime for the other, were what we looked forward to most during those days. In late 2021, Chau returned to England for a magical few weeks, but the reunion did not last long as Chau headed to Melbourne in early 2022. Six more months of long distance and longer time differences followed. Our reunion was finally permanent when Chau returned once again to England, this time on study away for six months. We moved in together, and later got engaged in Robin Hood’s Bay, recalling our first trip together in 2019. Since then life has been a rollercoaster as we moved to Hanoi for 3 months in March 2023, before finally heading to Melbourne together in June.&nbsp; Our journey may be called a "happy ending," but in reality, it's a joyous beginning.&nbsp; “When two hearts are meant for each other, no distance is too far”

All others can wear traditional clothes or smart casual outfits

There will be five offerings prepared by David's family, carried by five groomsmen. When David's side (15-20 people) arrives at Chau's house, David and Liz will lead, followed by Hannah and the groomsmen in traditional ao dai, with photographers capturing the moment. Upon entering the apartment, the groomsmen will present the offerings to five bridesmaids. After placing the offerings, David will join Chau for the incense lighting and ancestral worship. The couple will then sit with family and friends for a small tea ceremony. Liz will give a brief speech requesting Chau as the bride, and Chau’s father will respond. Both sides will introduce their close relatives and friends, chat, and enjoy tea.

The mini bus will take groom’s side back to the Old quarter. You can have a nap and get changed for the wedding in the evening. The wedding ceremony in the evening is similar to a Western wedding.&nbsp;No dress code required
