Love Story

Colin

When I was a missionary in the MTC (before leaving for Australia) for a couple weeks, I had locked my heart. But my eyes were open. One day we had a devotional and I saw a super cute sister missionary, Sister Chang. I thought to myself, “Wow, I didn't know pretty girls like this were in our church.” I saw her name tag was in Chinese, the language I was studying. Later, she was in the same elevator as me and my district. So, I decided to practice my Chinese with her. She was super nice and had a super cute voice. I was so happy and then every time I saw her after that, I would wave hi to her. Later on, I had left for Australia, but I kept in contact with her for about a month. We would wish each other Happy Birthday, but wouldn’t talk much more than that.

When I got to BYU in Utah, I reached out to Chelsea. I remembered she was coming to BYU, so I wanted to see how things would go. Sure enough, she was already in Provo. I asked if she wanted to go with me to get something to eat, and she said yes! That wasn’t really a date, we just talked and I was trying to see if I liked her and wanted to date her. Turns out, she was so fun to be with! I asked her out that day, and then over the next few weeks, I started to ask her to be my girlfriend. I kept waiting because she still had dates with other guys lined up. Eventually, we started dating on September 9th. That night, as I was walking her home, she suddenly asked, “do you want to be my boyfriend?” I was so shocked, but super excited. Since then, I have loved her the most, and I’ll continue to love her forever and everrr! She has been such an example to me, always treating me with love and respect and making me the happiest person in the world😍

When I was at the MTC (Missionary Training Center), there was an elder who always said hi to me. We were in different zones and districts, so I had no idea who he was at first, and I was a little confused the first couple of times he greeted me. After that, we started saying hi to each other whenever we saw each other and would sometimes chat a little in Mandarin. I remember that whenever I saw him, he always had a big smile on his face. He looked so happy and positive that I thought he was like a sunflower.

We didn’t really keep in contact during our missions, but after two years when we had both finished, Colin reached out to me. At that time, I had just moved to Provo to attend BYU, and we went out to grab dinner for the first time. During our dinner, he was so brave and asked, “Do you have a boyfriend?” I said, “No.” Then he said, “Do you want to go on a date with me next time?” I said, “Yeah.” Since then, we’ve hung out, gone on dates, and now we’re getting married!

It has been so wonderful to be with him! He has been a huge support and my biggest cheerleader. He laughs with me when I’m happy and wipes my tears when I’m feeling down. He’s always there for me. He still always has a big smile, and it warms my heart. His positivity inspires me. He’s such a sweet, patient, courageous, positive, loving, and kind person. He’s my sunflower, and I love him so much!!!
