Chelsea and Isaac met in the Fall of 2022 when they both started training to be volunteer firefighters in Makanda, IL. At that time, they trained weekly with the other probationary firefighters, learning skills such as search and rescue, tool identification and use, hose deployment and advancement, and firefighter survival. After they were cleared to respond to calls in February of 2023, they responded to scenes together and worked side by side often.

In May of 2023, Chelsea graduated from SIUC and relocated home to Olney. Shortly after, Isaac reached out to ask what she had been up to, and they've been talking every day since. On their first date, Chelsea invited Isaac over to the farm to ride horses together, which was the real test of whether the relationship would last or not.

Since their first ride together, they have grown in their faith and pushed each other to be better Christians. Isaac popped the question on November 9th, 2024 at the Makanda Fire Station, back at where they first met and their story started.
