One of my guilty pleasures in life is the movie Serendipity. It's a cheesy chick flick, but I love it. Seeing how events, however vague or obscure, can lead two people together. As if it's fate that decided they were made for each other. The very definition of serendipity is luck that takes the form of finding valuable or pleasant things that are not looked for. And that's exactly how I met the love of my life.

At the beginning of dental school I had the mindset that I may never find love. I'm sure we've all been there. Bad experiences tricked us into thinking we would never be loved, and instead of seeking it out we bury our heads in our work. That was the definition of me. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would ever find someone who would see in me someone worth spending eternity with. Even with Chelsea, I struck out with one summer on Facebook. Here there was this girl friending me on the book, so I shoot her my number (which I am always reluctant to do) and I hear crickets. But then fate had a funny way of drawing us back together.

My junior year of dental school, Chelsea began attending The Ohio State University for Physical Therapy. And after several pleas for Shannon to set me up on a date, this angel comes walking into Prior Health Sciences Library. She didn't even know I was there as she walked right by me and Shannon. But God love Shannon, she offered Chelsea our table to study at. And Shannon playing matchmaker wrote my number on Chelsea's coffee cup. But like a fine wine, it had to breath. I believe I had to wait a week for this girl to finally text me. And after a couple of weeks of innocent messaging, I worked up the courage to ask her out on a casual ice cream date. The rest as they say is history.

From that very first ice cream date I had a feeling. Honestly it stopped me in my tracks. When Chelsea got into my car we immediately struck a conversation. It was like we were old friends. From that day I've felt so comfortable with her, so complete. I just knew, this was my last first date. This was the last first kiss for me. And since then I haven't been proved wrong. This is the only person I could ever see myself being with for the rest of my life. I look at Chelsea and see God's love. She came to me at a time I wasn't expecting love. A time I didn't think highly of myself. She rescued my heart and showed me true providence. True acceptance. A connection like that can change your life. And I can honestly say, she's changed mine for the best, forever. I've become a better person in knowing her. I want to be better for her. And I know she will always be there for me. She's the love of my life. And I thank all of you for being a part of our lives and sharing our day with us. God truly is good.
