FAQs

Who should I contact if I have questions?

If you have questions, feel free to text or call whoever you know best! While things are busy, we also know that weddings include a lot of moving parts, and we would rather you ask and get your questions answered! :)

What is the timeline/venue details for the wedding weekend?

For more information about the timeline for the weekend, check out our home page. (Scroll to the bottom!) The timeline on our home page includes start and end times for each event, venue addresses, and attire details. A quick summary is that all events will happen in the Prairie Trail neighborhood in Ankeny, including the Welcome Party (at McGee's Irish Pub), Wedding & Reception (at Toast Ankeny), & Brunch (Smokey Row Cafe) and Bar Crawl (Various).

What is the wedding attire?

Wedding attire is cocktail attire or semi-formal. Our wedding ceremony and reception will be held indoors, and if the weather is nice, the cocktail hour will be held outdoors on the rooftop patio. Consider bringing a shawl or jacket if the weather is brisk. This is Iowa in October, so there is no guessing what the weather will be! Our wedding colors are jewel tones, which include deep blues and teals, greens, reds, purples, and gold. Think autumn colors, but fancy :)

Is this a child-free event?

While we love the children in our lives, our wedding will be an adults-only event. We appreciate your understanding.

Do you have a wedding registry?

In lieu of traditional gifts, any contributions to our honeymoon fund will be deeply appreciated. We will be going to Vietnam, where the vast majority of Johnny's family still resides, and where his parents emigrated from after the fall of Saigon. Johnny has yet to visit Vietnam, so this trip is meaningful for many reasons. To learn more about how to contribute to this experience, please see the Registry tab.

What is the transportation situation, and do you have a hotel block?

See the Travel tab for more details.

Am I allowed to take photos at your wedding?

We are hoping for an unplugged wedding ceremony, so that all can enjoy in the moment. We ask that you keep your phone on silent or turned off during the ceremony itself. Afterwards, take as many photos as you want! We are excited for all to capture the festivities.

Will there be an open bar?

Yes! We will have an open bar at cocktail hour after the wedding ceremony, as well as at the wedding reception. (There will also be an open bar at the Welcome Party on Thursday from 7:15-9:30pm.)

What type of food will be served at the wedding?

When you RSVP, please respond with your dietary preferences. We are already planning to provide vegetarian and gluten-free options, but want to ensure everyone leaves satisfied with their meal. We'll be serving hors d'oeuvres at cocktail hour followed by dinner, which will include food stations with several types of cuisine to choose from.

Is the wedding venue wheelchair accessible?

Yes! There is an elevator for better accessibility. The ceremony is held on the 2nd floor of the building, and the cocktail hour and reception are on the 3rd floor.

Is there free parking at the venue?

Yes! There is plenty of parking in front of and behind Toast. Parking is free, and attendees are welcome to leave their cars overnight if needed.
