Chelsea and Matt met in the late summer of 2017 through mutual friends. They soon started talking more and had their first date in the fall of 2017 at Burgers and Beer in South Wilmington. Chelsea was applying to dental schools at the time and Matt had just started his career in civil engineering after graduating from college. Chelsea soon was accepted into University of Illinois Chicago which meant that they would have to be 60 miles apart instead of 7. While the distance wasn't always easy, they found that between trips to Chicago for Matt and trips back home for Chelsea, the distance wouldn't be as difficult to navigate as they originally thought. Soon the trips to Chicago were enough to convince Matt to move up to the city so he and Chelsea could experience the city life together. In December of 2023, Matt finally proposed to Chelsea at one of her favorite spots, the Kinzie Street Bridge. With Christmas lights, skyscrapers, and the Chicago River as a backdrop, he knew (with some subtle hints from Chelsea) this would be the spot to get the perfect proposal pictures. Besides Mother Nature throwing a curve ball with some rain, the proposal went off without a hitch and the longtime couple became engaged. They are looking forward to a perfect wedding day and a long life together as husband and wife!
