In the summer of 2016, Pokemon Go became a global phenomenon. Not only did it get thousands of people outside, it's the reason that Cherish and Daniel ever met in the first place. At the time, Cherish just happened to be in town for the summer on break from her education at UNR after returning from studying abroad in Japan. What started as friendship through the game during the summer led to continued exchanges and conversations after she had returned to Reno for her studies, then to Daniel eventually flying out to visit her and asking her to be his girlfriend at the Reno Lantern Festival. They continued their relationship long distance until Cherish graduated in the summer of 2017 and moved in with Daniel in Las Vegas. Their home and their family grew as they went from apartment to house and adopted their three pets; their cats, Tora and Lilo, and their dog, Yoko. None normal or conventionally mannered, but all loved. Throughout the years they shared their love of all things nerdy, from video games to comics to Broadway to anime, until in July of 2021, Daniel proposed to Cherish while they were singing a song together from one of their favorite shows, Steven Universe, while surrounded by several of their closest friends at karaoke. Shortly after, Cherish left America to teach English in Japan, and returned home earlier this year in 2023. They began their relationship long distance, and will be entering their married lives together after persevering again, proving that their love can endure any amount of distance and the test of time.
