Plenty of good ol' Texan horticulture at the Arid Garden and Bayou Parkland.
If you're into the views and aesthetics you can take a stroll over to The Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion or Pergola Walk.
Need a sensory adventure for the kiddos? The Family Garden is edible and interactive! There's also a really cool train that's technically not free - its $7 on the weekends - but it's an all-day pass, and kids frickin' love trains.
Last, but certainly not least, Miller's Outdoor Theater hosts a variety of entertainment, all family-friendly and free of charge.
