How They Met

Marcus and Cheyenne's love story started when Cheyenne was looking for a dental hygiene position after her move to Houston. Marcus responded to her post in a local Facebook dental group and invited her in for an interview. She was hired within the week and the two became coworkers. After several months of working together the two discovered there was more between them than just teeth. Marcus invited Cheyenne to a baseball game (Go Astros!!) and the rest is history.Their shared love of dentistry and growing love for each other quickly developed and Marcus asked Cheyenne to move in with him the following year. Then, in July of 2019 they purchased their first home right next door to Marcus's best man and long time friends, Colt &amp; Erica Riley. Since then, they have expanded their family to include Brynleigh &amp; Adelaine (their two pups)!

The Propsal

In January of 2020, Marcus made it his new years resolution to ask Cheyenne to marry him. On New Years Eve, Marcus's good friend (and groomsman) Ryan was in town visiting and the two took a trip to the jewelry store. Marcus had plans to pop the question during a snowboarding trip in Lake Tahoe a few months later with the help of one of Cheyenne's best friends (and co-maid of honor) Linette. However when the pandemic hit, and travel restrictions were put in place, Marcus had to hold on to the ring longer than expected. Finally, six months later on June 14th, 2020 Marcus and Cheyenne drove down to South Padre Island with new pup Brynleigh to visit his parents, and one of Cheyenne's best friends (and co- maid of honor) Kim who had flown into town from California. They spent the weekend with family and friends they hadn't seen in a while and had the best time on the water and laying out at the beach.During the 6 hour drive back to Houston on Sunday, Brynleigh threw up bright green in the car and Cheyenne began to panic. Marcus tried to calm her, and reassure her that their puppy would be just fine, knowing that he had big plans for her when they arrived home. Throughout the drive, he continued to tell Cheyenne how tired he was from the long weekend, didn't feel well, and just wanted to go home and straight to sleep to get a good nights rest before work the next day. Cheyenne had no idea what was coming...When they arrived home, Cheyenne agreed to unload the car while Marcus took Brynleigh for a walk. As her hands were full, he opened the garage door for her and instructed her to "follow the candles and don't come back". (Yes, those were his exact words, in fact, he repeated it twice to make sure she would listen haha) Cheyenne followed tea light candles and rose pedals up the stairs, through the house and to the balcony on their 2nd floor. When she opened the sliding glass door, she found Marcus down on one knee in their front yard holding Brynleigh. She was surrounded by tons of flowers, candles, twinkly lights, and a drone catching everything on camera. Marcus told Cheyenne how much he loved her and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He read a quote from Romeo and Juliet, then proceeded to climb up a ladder (with Brynleigh in arms), and jump over the railing to join Cheyenne on the balcony. He took a knee once more and asked Cheyenne to marry him. Of course, she said yes! After Colt revealed himself with the drone, she heard a little "Congratulations" coming from behind her. She turned around to find Linette (who had flown in from LA that afternoon) standing right behind her waiting to surprise her. The four of them popped a bottle of champage, ordered some pizza and spent the rest of the night celebrating.
