Matt and I met in August of 2018 at Tesla Gigafactory in Reno, Nevada. Matt was 20 and I was 18. Originally we were on separate teams within the warehouse, but the universe knew what she was doing. I happened to work on the same team as his best friend from high school and also his roommate, Jacob Parker. He was the one to introduce us, I remember Jake telling me about Matt and then sure enough here he comes riding down the long ass narrow hallway on his P.I.T rider, pulls in on it and damn near jumped off it, extended his hand and goes "hi, I'm Matt!"
From there we would talk at work and there were times I swear he was matching his breaks with mine, but he says he just happened to be going at that time. I still don't believe that, but the first time he did it, we just sat at the same table and just did small talk until we had to go back to work. Once he joined our team I got to see more of him, he worked lineside while I worked in the banning room. So when there was no work for him he would come in and hang out with me and our crew. We continued to get closer as the days went on and I finally got the guts to ask for his snapchat and from there the connection went through the roof. We would talk almost all night and then I'd would be so excited to see him the next day at work. he made work tolerable :)
A friend had invited us to do a double date for the balloon races so I spent the night at their house because if you know the balloon races you have to get up super early to get parking and to get time to go down there before sunrise and the balloon release. Well we didn't make it due to partying the night before but that was were he intended to ask me to be his girlfriend. He asked me that same morning as we got up to get the day going. I was so ecstatic, I really didn't care where he asked me.
September of 2019 we went to New York for our one year anniversary. That trip was so much fun! It was my first time on the east coast too. We stayed there for a week and saw the Rockefeller tower, the 9/11 memorial, we were there the day of the memorial. It was nice how they shut down the place to the public so the families can go mourn and grieve in peace. We went to the color museum, the national geographic experiance they had there, the metropolitan museum. of course riding the metro everywhere. Ate sooooo much yummy food especially those Greek trucks that were on almost every corner oo those were heaven.
Covid hit in 2020 so we didn't do much for our two year. We went to Santa Cruz and did the boardwalk but same thing covid was out so the boardwalk was dead. Matt and also moved in together this year.
We did venture out to Paris, France the next year to celebrate three years together after travel restrictions were lifted. I for sure thought this was it, Matt was going to propose in freaking Paris! I mean what better place than the city of love right! We also spent a week here and same thing enjoyed yummy food where we had the best mozzarella ever and even tried escargot! Not bad at all! we saw loads of museums such as muse de Orsay, a Dali museum and of course the Louvre. When we finished with the trip and we got back to Reno without the question I was a little sad, but we just had the best trip of our life and I wouldn't have traded it for anything else.
In 2022 to celebrate 4 years together we went to Cancun for a week were we saw Joya which is their version of cirque soleil that included a five course meal where I had the best salmon of my life and even their menus were edible. We spent a whole week there as well and same thing we grubbed. Pretty much anywhere we go we are eating, we are major foodies when traveling. Matt go our hotel in pretty much downtown Cancun in Plaza de America. We didn't want to be in the "hotel zone" we wanted the trip to feel more authentic and really see what it was like to live there. Xcaret was there form of an amusement part but it wasn't your average one, we got to swim in different cenotes and see different animals as well, it was like a zoo and amusement park rolled into one. We even got to see Chichen Itza which was my first wonder of the world and Matt's third!
In 2023 we went for a more subtle easy trip to celebrate 5 years together, since we had just done Ireland with Matt and his parents in the beginning of the year, to San Francisco which was perfect because I have been to SF but never for a week or even to get to explore it like how he knew it. We stayed at the Chancellor Hotel in Union Square, we walked sooo much and of course took the transportation everywhere. The first day we went to Chinatown first to get pork buns and dumplings and took it back to a park and ate while enjoying a man playing what looked like a cross between a cello and violin but it was long and skinny. It was beautiful. After that we took the bus to Palace of Fine Arts and that is where Matt proposed. Shocked me! I was NOT expecting that at all! It's funny because once we got there he started acting really nervous, looking around for the perfect spot away from people so we could have a private moment and then just being more lovey dovey than normal and then everything came together. He found the perfect spot and started his speech I could feel the box on my shoulder while I was listening to him and my heart was beating all I could thing was no freaking way!! Its happening!! He was so nervous and right as he got down on one knee and whole family of 15 comes walking around the corner, thank goodness they didn't really pay attention to us because we didn't want a huge commotion, but of course I said yes and we were just standing there holding each other, I was crying. We laughed. All the emotions and honestly all day and the rest of our trip we were on cloud nine!
And now here we are finally getting married after 7 years together! I cant wait to see what the future holds for both of us and we thank each and every one of you who has been apart of our life and now apart of our big day! We cant wait to see you all there and to party with you all! <3
