Chicoyah and Joshua's love story began on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. Despite growing up just 20 minutes apart in Chicago's south suburbs, their paths didn't cross until they were at Purdue, where they would soon realize how much they needed each other. Being in similar circles and organizations at Purdue for 4 years, they always considered each other friends and were oftentimes partners for group work in their shared major of Construction Engineering. Though they attempted a romance once or twice , it wasn’t until the spring semester before their final year that the timing was perfect.

Their love rekindled during a "study date" at the library, followed by lunch at a local Chinese restaurant on campus. That summer, they continued dating casually, spending every night together and building a strong foundation without any outside interference. They both agree that summer was crucial for their relationship as they took time to learn and connect with one another on a deeper level.

As Joshua's family reunion approached in late fall, they decided to make their relationship official, not only because it was long overdue, but also because Chi was not going to attend as just his " Lil friend." Their union was inevitable, and Chi was warmly welcomed by Josh's extended family in Alabama. During their last semester, they moved in together and supported each other through their coursework, spending countless hours together and strengthening their bond.

Fall break '23 brought a memorable trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, where Josh proposed while they floated in harmony in the ocean, marking an unforgettable moment in their journey to marriage. They graduated together, on the same day, at the same time, walking the stage literally one after the other, and earning their degrees in Construction Engineering.

Since then, Chicoyah and Joshua have been inseparable, believing their love story is a testament to divine timing. They look forward to sharing their love with friends and family on their big day!
