Our Wedding

China moved to Charlotte from Colorado in the spring of 2019 to take a promotion with the YMCA; this was her 6th year working for the Y and she was excited to be moving back to the south for the warmer weather and to be a little bit closer to her family. Amber had been working for the Y in Charlotte for three years when China joined the team. China and Amber instantly felt drawn to one another but because of the chaotic work environment it wouldn’t be for several months before they got to be good friends.During the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic, Amber and China found themselves working in a very tense and unusual work environment trying to navigate the pandemic while managing a fitness center outside of the building walls, in a parking lot, during the unbearably hot and humid North Carolina summer. The two found ways to make the scary and difficult times enjoyable through making playlists, creating games, and having daily parking lot picnics. They will be the first to tell you that it was not in any way glamorous, but the two came to rely heavily on the support of the other to make it through the challenging time and quickly built an incredible friendship.After 8 months of pandemic closures and restrictions, the world started to open back up and China and Amber were able to explore a relationship outside of work through traveling, going to events and eventually spending all their free time together. In the fall of 2020, the true love story began and they made their relationship official. Over the next two years, they supported one another as they each transitioned into new careers, overcame obstacles as a couple, and grew closer together. In 2022 China proposed to Amber over a beautiful picnic in the Asheville Botanical Gardens, and of course: she said yes!After enjoying a 2 year engagement, buying a house together, and marking some more travel destinations off their bucket list, they are excited to celebrate their special day with their friends &amp; family.&nbsp;
