It all started with a twitter direct message. So romantic, right?
I remember the day so vividly. It was a Sunday afternoon in 2016. My dad came into town and offered to take me on a shopping trip (poor Zach, didn’t know what he got himself into at the time). Keep in mind— Zach and I grew up in the Keller area together and went to the same middle school, but not the same high school.
I had tweeted out a poll that said “What should I buy today: a Kendra Scott necklace or Lululemon leggings?” I’m sure you know his response was leggings. Zach somehow though mustered up the bravery to message me instead of voting. “The leggings ;)” is what appeared on my phone screen, and that moment right there was the beginning to our beautiful narrative.
After we graduated high school, we both had to decide our college fate. I began my hunt for the best nursing schools in Texas. Zach informed me that he still wasn’t sure where he wanted to attend in order to obtain his accounting degree. After months of research, I had made my final decision. I applied and got accepted into Abilene Christian University. Zach had then decided to start out at Tarrant County Community College.
As the dates got closer for me to move in, although I should be ecstatic, my gut was telling me otherwise. I had a very small feeling that if I left this town, it would alter Zach and I’s future together. I couldn’t leave him. He was what made me whole.
I came to the challenging conclusion that I wanted to stay in Fort Worth and continue my life here with Zach.
Down the road, we both went on to study at Tarleton State University where we graduated together. From crazy high school kids who traveled 30 minutes to see each other everyday, to being a college couple who shared a 50 sq foot dorm room for 3 years, to now making the sweetest of memories as adults with our two precious pups! I’m so lucky to have found my person to share this life with. It was you, it is you, it will always be you, Zach Morris.
