Troy and Chloe met in a very unique way. They both have had a love for music their whole lives, and their love for music is ultimately what lead them to meeting in the middle of a crowd at a concert on May 27, 2019 in Tampa, Florida.
From Chloe:
This little note given to us by a close family member explains our story so well. It truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence. Out of all the thousands of people at this concert and out of all the places we could have been in this world from Pennsylvania to Florida, we somehow ended up at the same place at the same time. We had no idea coming into that day just how much our lives were about to change forever—but they SURE did.
We instantly became best friends, even only after about an hour of knowing each other. It was a connection and feeling that we both could not look past, even though we knew we lived in two different places. We knew that we were meant to meet and that this connection was NOT random. It was almost like a gut feeling that this was different.
The day we met, we hung out all day together. Troy, believe it or not, was the first one to make the first move to kiss me when we said goodbye to each other. I was the one to actually give him my phone number at the end of the night as we were leaving in hopes that I could see him again the next day. As we got back home that night, I remember saying to my friend "not to be dramatic or anything, but I'm pretty sure I just met my husband!"
Turns out I was right!
The next morning, all I could think about was a random number popping up on my phone in hopes that it was Troy texting me. I was in my apartment with my best friend, Caitlyn, and immediately screamed when my phone went off and it was Troy!
We met up that next day and had the best day ever together with great new friends. When we had to say goodbye, and I knew that Troy was flying back to Pennsylvania, I was truly heartbroken! I didn't know what to think or how to feel! I remember hugging Troy goodbye—baffled at myself that I was actually crying about a stranger that I've barely even known for 48 hours at this point.
Troy went back to West Chester, Pennsylvania, and I went back to college classes in Tampa (yuck), but we texted and talked on the phone every single day—basically every single chance we got! We decided that we had no other choice but to see each other again. So, with the little money I had as a broke college student with no job at the time, I bought a plane ticket to Philadelphia. I'm also pretty sure that I started selling some of my clothes and other miscellaneous items from my apartment to get extra money to buy a plane ticket. Clearly, I was pretty dedicated. My parents were NOT happy about this—mainly because I had no job and was being irresponsible, but also because they were concerned that the random stranger I met at a concert that I was flying to Philadelphia to see was going to end up being a serial killer or something.
I was so dead set on proving them wrong! Plus, I brought a girlfriend with me so if we went down, we at least would be going down together. Troy picked us up in his Silver Subaru at the Philadelphia Airport, and I was NOTICEABLY shaking profusely. Troy definitely knew I was more nervous than I have ever been in my life. After this weekend together, we could tell that this was real.
Fast forward a few months later, Troy and I decided to date after he had came down to visit me in Florida again and met my parents (who we soon discovered have the same names as HIS parents). So we both have Amy and Steve as our mom and dad funny enough!
Fast forward a year later, I graduated college in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. This time was not easy. Troy and I were ready to be done doing long distance. We needed an end goal. I felt such a pull to Pennsylvania that I could not avoid. This definitely was the hardest decision I think I ever had to make in my life, but I truly felt like God was telling me to go. Everything was falling into place for me to be up there with Troy and begin my life with him. I had endless support from my parents, my close friends and family, but that still never makes a decision like this easy. We did it though—from Florida to Pennsylvania, we packed all my belongings into a U-haul and set on our 20-hour trip to my new home! Our new home! Together.
Fast forward another year later—WE'RE ENGAGED.
And I guess the rest is history.
See you on May 27, 2023! The date that we met four years ago.
