The Proposal

Chloe's POV:

Evan and I had been planning to visit his grandparents in Napa, CA for a couple of years. We were supposed to go during Christmas Break 2022-23. Our flights got cancelled, so we booked the trip AGAIN for Christmas Break 2023-24.

I noticed that Evan was acting kind of strange on the way to and at the airport. I thought *maybe* it could be happening on this trip, but if you know me, you know that I read into EVERYTHING, so I was trying not to get my hopes up. ;)

On our fifth day there, we visited Bodega Beach. There were coastal flood warnings and it was super foggy, so we kind of were just walking along the shoreline. After about an hour of doing this, I started to ask when we could go eat some lunch. Evan then proceeded to wander further from the car and I followed.

I was freezing and tried putting my hand in Evan's pocket, which resulted in a closed fist and blocked access. Then, before I knew it, Evan's hand started to shake and he said that he loved me several times. Then just as I thought, he's either really cold too with all of this shaking or he's about to propose to me, Evan said, "You're my best friend and I love you very much. Will you marry me?"

Evan's POV:

I bought Chloe's ring not having a plan on how or when to propose. It was supposed to be available for pick up sometime in mid January. I got a phone call saying it got in earlier than expected. It showed up a couple weeks before our Christmas vacation to California to visit my grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa Cooley. I thought what better place to propose than at the sunny beaches in California. I called Grandma and Grandpa Cooley to make a plan. We were visiting Bodega Bay during a coastal flood. When we got to Bodega, there was no beach, it was cloudy, and very chilly. We made our way where there weren't many people. On our way Chloe was talking about how cold and hungry she was. She tried putting her hand in my pocket where the ring was. I put the ring in my hand and made a fist so she couldn't put her hand in my pocket. I proposed and the handful of people that saw from a distance cheered. We went to celebrate in a warm restaurant with delicious seafood.
