Chloe and Josiah met at their friends, Emma and Hershel Miller's, wedding on New Years Eve. Prior to their first meeting, Chloe was friends with Josiah's sister-in-law, Katie Butler, while Josiah was friends with Chloe's brother-in-law, Hudson Rollman. Neither had heard much of the other until they happened to sit next to each other during the ceremony.
During the wedding, Chloe and Josiah made a deal to read each others favorite books. While keeping each other accountable to uphold their end of the bargain, they started to talk less about the books and more about their lives. Soon after, they had their first video call that lasted 7 hours. It did not take long for them to arrange weekly calls, usually ranging from 4-6 hours at a time. And ultimately led to the first weekend trip.
side note: Josiah did win, reading Little Women (400+ pages) in a month while it took Chloe roughy three months to finish Typhoon (90 pages but very boring).
The first time seeing each other since New Years Eve was for yet another wedding. Josiah had asked Chloe to be his plus one to his friends', Devin and Melanie Syas, wedding in South Carolina. Thankfully, Chloe's sister and brother-in-law, Chelsea and Hudson Rollman, were apart of the bridal party, so it was less of a risk flying across the country for a date. During this trip, they spent the majority of their time with one another, learning a lot about each other, and getting very excited about their potential future together.
Since then, they have made an effort to see each other in person at least once a month, trying to shorten the distance between them. Their weekly video calls were also a small blessing that allowed them to get to know each other very well. Through long discussions, sharing their beliefs and ideas, Josiah and Chloe realized their love for each other and their desire to ultimately get married.
Through the entirety of their relationship, they have prioritized sharing their faith in their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. They both believe that prioritizing Christ together and individually, allows them to better love one another. They hope to reflect Christ's perfect love for His church through the practicing of His word. They hope that those who attend the start of their union will encourage them in their pursuit of Him on that day and their future together. Thank you!
