Travel Tips!

MONEY:

All major credit cards are accepted in Greece but Visa and Mastercard tend to be more widely preferred than American Express.

Your local bank can order Euros. Allow 7-10 days for them to order and receive for pickup. Any Euros not used can be returned to the bank for USD when you return. This avoids fees and lines in the airport.

The app XE Currency can be downloaded for real time exchange rates. This is helpful to see what something costs in USD.

GETTING AROUND:

The Uber app will work in Greece but it is serviced by traditional taxi cabs.

If you plan to rent a car, it’s best to have this booked prior to arrival. (the sooner the better)

Anavyssos is 30-40 minutes from Athens.

Ferry schedules are not always “on time” and it’s best to book ferry tickets ahead of time.

Transportation to and from the marina for Friday’s boat cruise will be provided.

WEATHER:

Typical April weather in Greece is similar to April in the US with 75 day/55-60 evening. Wraps/light jackets are suggested during the evenings. Let’s pray for beautiful weather!

ELECTRICITY & OUTLETS:

Don’t forget your adaptors or converters! You can purchase them on Amazon. Greece & most of Europe use the Type-C plug. However, if you are planning on traveling to multiple countries, it might be smart to purchase a universal adapter so that you are able to use it in all countries you are planning to attend.

Greece also uses different voltage than the U.S.
• Voltage: 230V (U.S. is 120V)

Most phone chargers, laptops, and camera chargers are already dual voltage and will work with just a plug adapter.

However, hair tools, clothing steamers, and other heated appliances are often designed for U.S. voltage only. Before packing, please check that the label says “110–240V” or “dual voltage.” If it only lists 120V, it may not work in Greece and could be damaged.

If you’re unsure, a travel-sized dual-voltage hair tool is the safest option.

Most hotels & Airbnbs provide hairdryers, please check your accommodations and plan accordingly.
