May 21, 2021: Chloe received an Instagram message from some “Malachi Lyon” that included the phrase “huh, I really don’t know her very well, but I definitely should!” We’ve come a long way from that moment!
After some initial hesitancy, Chloe finally responded (thanks to some encouragement from her friends), and about a month later after talking we met face to face over coffee and talked for four hours straight. From the start we both recognized and appreciated the other’s desire for intentional, deep conversations centered around Christ. We met up a few other times that summer for day trips and could feel there may be something there…only issue was Chloe headed to the middle of nowhere USA for physical therapy graduate school - Nebraska!
We stayed friends even through Chloe’s move while Malachi established himself in Pittsburgh, and we officially started dating December 28th, 2021. We’ve been doing long distance ever since and to say we are excited for the distance to come to an end very soon is an understatement!
Distance has taught us so much about the need to communicate well and to treasure the times we are together to just “be” with the other person. Despite the distance we’ve been blessed with opportunities to do the things we love together - being outdoors, trying new foods, spending quality time with family and friends, and some (very) competitive game nights. And now we’re even more blessed that we’ll be able to do these more frequently than every two months! We are so excited and grateful to the Lord for bringing our paths together and allowing us the opportunity to love and serve Him together.
