HOW WE MET
Cortez’s Version…..
I met Chomonic over 2 years ago while I was playing live music on drums with the Soul Power band at The Duce. Chomonic was celebrating her born-day with “the girls” who persuaded her to drop by the venue. When I saw her walk in, I was immediately drawn and wanted to talk to her. So during the band’s break, I decided I was going to approach her but saw she was already engaged in a group conversation with one of her friends and two other gentlemen. I started thinking to myself, “Is she even single? What if she’s interested in one of these other men?” However, I shook off those thoughts and made my confident approach to introduce myself to Chomonic. We started talking and learned we had a lot in common but still wasn’t ready to shoot my shot just yet, so I approached her about business and networking. We exchanged numbers and told her I would be in touch soon. “She definitely has to be off the market and is with someone,” I thought to myself, but Chomonic left an impression on me that I couldn’t deny.
Chomonic’s Version…..
Cortez and I met when I was celebrating my birthday with my friends Gabrielle and Ebony. We had met up for dinner and I was ready to call it a night, but my girls convinced me to go to some place called “The Duce” to check out a live band. When we walked in, I was immediately impressed with the performing band. As we were escorted to our front row seats, I looked up at the drummer and said to myself, “The drummer is cute…I like his style.” The band went on break, and our group was then approached by two gentlemen who were there listening to the band. Shortly after, Cortez came over and introduced himself with a warm smile. I told him I loved his hat and that sparked more conversation between us. We discovered we had similar interests and experiences. He also talked about how he had recently come back from Chicago after visiting his daughter which also caught my attention. The break was then over, but before he went back onstage, he asked to exchange info so we could stay in touch and network. When Cortez walked away, Ebony said, “He likes you." I told Ebony, “I don't think so. He just wants to connect on business. He gave me his Google number...”
OUR LOVE STORY CONTINUES
We continued our connection beyond that first evening. Over the course of several phone calls and text messages, we discovered we were building a friendship but also felt there was something more and decided to go on our first official date a month later (which we both agree was the best we had in a long time). Our relationship continued to grow as we deepened our connection through love, music and our faith.
As we embark on our next journey to become husband and wife, we are grateful for our loved ones who have supported us along the way. We look forward to celebrating our love with you and seeing you all soon!
The music began…the music was made….
