How did a born and raised Wisconsin girl end up with a good ole Texas boy?
Anna moved to Texas in 2020 and started working as a physician assistant after graduating from Marquette University earlier that year. Being new to the area, she was always looking for opportunities to make friends and connections. Chris had been working as an accountant and living in the city since 2018 after graduating from the University of Alabama. Chris was hoping to get more involved in his local church, in an attempt to recreate his positive college experience. In February 2022, they both decided to attend a volunteer event with Holy Trinity Catholic Church young adult group. Anna looking fresh as a sunflower, Chris looking like he just spent a night out on the town. Upon arrival, Chris casually introduced himself to Anna. After she returned the introduction, he immediately mocked her accent and asked "Where are you from?" Very romantic.
They were assigned the same task to wash the cars of women living at the shelter, but there was probably more goofing around and chatting than cleaning. They attended a mutual friend's party later that evening where they proceeded to spend the entire time laughing and getting to know one another. They went on their first date the following Saturday. Chris, ever the romantic, set up a date of beer, darts, and bar-b-que. Pretty quickly they realized that if they didn't end up dating, they would at least be best friends. They shared several more dates involving bowling, movies, Lent fish fry dinners, and exploring new places in Dallas as "friends" until an exciting playoff Stars hockey game where afterwards, and without asking Anna, Chris introduced Anna as "his girlfriend" and made it official.
The proceeding 17 months were filled with some of their fondest memories including concerts, the Dallas half marathon (which Anna won both times), visiting Anna's family in North Carolina, a trip with the Fiebig family to Michigan, Chris's karaoke performance of Fergalicious at Anna's Grandmother's 90th birthday party, trivia nights, Anna's first Texas Rangers game, and much more! In September 2023, Chris and Anna took their first couples trip to Fredericksburg, Texas. Anna was on edge at the start of the trip, as Chris made no attempt to hide his plans for the weekend. On multiple occasions (anytime Chris looked at Anna for more than 5 seconds), Anna got wide-eyed and said, "Not here, do not propose to me here in front of all these people!" Chris proposed to Anna at their Air Bnb, and she said YES OF COURSE!
We are thrilled to be getting married in the presence of you all at Holy Trinity Catholic Church! Besides its beauty and welcoming community, it is the foundation of our relationship. It will be a fun weekend celebrating with our friends and family. We can't wait to see you all!
