Clay and Christa first met in 2021. On their first date Christa poked fun at the fact Clay was driving a short-bed pickup at the time and Christa proceeded to pick a restaurant with no Coors Light and it has been endless banter between them since. Christa has since moved to Roundup with her dog and horse, where the fridge is now always stocked with Coors Light. They have added two more horses, a dog and 14 chickens to the animals since Christa moved in and Clay's pickups have multiplied.

Clay has gotten Christa to love winter by taking up one of his favorite hobbies, snowmobiling. They now enjoy going to the mountain together. Clay popped the question in March of 2024 on their way to go snowmobiling in West Yellowstone.
