Like many millennial dating stories, this one begins on Hinge. I had just moved home from college and in with my parents for a season. Definitely not a great way to meet potential suitors. Luke had moved to DFW a couple years prior and was currently single, but living in a place with very few singles. We both set our preferred locations to the Fort Worth area, and Luke had me at “Hello!”

Luke and I started talking about our jobs, the passions God has given us for ministry and working with students. We met up for our first date that weekend and haven't really left one another's side since. We were officially dating a couple weeks later, after a 12 hour date that ends with a really good first kiss story I’ve promised to keep to myself until we’re married :)

Our first few months of dating were a dream. I could tell he genuinely cared about what I had to say, and wanted to get to know me as a person. He would keep Christina notes on his phone whenever I mentioned something like my favorite color, ice cream, or the name of my old pets, just so he wouldn't forget. He would drive to my school to hang out with me while I graded papers, and sometimes try to help when he could read them. He accidentally bought me two bouquets of roses for Valentine's Day because he wasn't sure if the first one was going to get delivered. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a guy to treat me better or pursue me with more genuine love in action.

Over the last couple of years we have built a best friendship from the ground up. We had never met each other before that first dinner, but now I can’t imagine my life without him. Things have not always been easy- we have actually realized how polar opposite we are as humans and have chosen to still be a team. We have learned through tribulations in our personal lives and in the world around us that loving like Jesus does is choosing to love each other despite mistakes, flaws, and differences.

The last year has been filled with so many challenges, but one thing that has been consistent for me is feeling safe and loved when I am with Luke. I look forward to that being my forever on earth, and I can’t wait to call him my husband!
