Our Wedding

They first met while Darya was working as a Chef at The Watergate Hotel. At the time Christina was working as a banquet server for a staffing company called Professional Bartenders and Servers. Christina had caught Darya’s attention - he was mesmerized by her glow and beautiful green hazel eyes. One mid event dinner shift, Darya made his way from behind the Chef line to introduce himself to Christina as she was unloading some banquet dishes. He was glowing with kindness and his face was filled with a smile, “Hi, I’m Darya.” Christina replied, “Nice to meet you. Darya.. like the MTV cartoon?” Darya chuckled, “yes you know, ‘Nah Nah Nah’” - which was the show’s theme song. Christina was impressed with his smiling response and cute sense of humor. The company Christina worked for scheduled her at different locations each shift. So for a few years Darya and Christina only saw each other in passing. Christina remembers Darya always greeting her with a glowing smile when she walked through the kitchen area. And so it continued as such until one special August when all the stars aligned. Christina and Darya began being scheduled together frequently at the Watergate rooftop - Top of the Gate! One evening shift Darya requested Christina’s number, “in case I need some food ran.” Christina suspected she understood the real reason he might want her number and thought, “He is cute! Okay, let’s see how this plays out.” Then the two began spending time talking and texting, which led eventually to a get together outside of work. Both thought the other considered it a friend outing. They met for Sushi at Yuraku, followed by coffee at Barking Mad Cafe. They each quickly knew they weren’t just friends. Over the next year their friendship continued to grow. They met each others parents before Darya asked Christina to be his girlfriend. They went on to bond during the Covid era and the relationship strengthened. On 12/18/22 Darya popped the question with a surprise proposal in front of the Christmas Tree surrounded by each of their families. It was a dream come true for both of them. And the rest is history. Now they ask that you join them as they enter the next part of their journey as husband and wife on June 1, 2024! They are so excited to celebrate their marriage surrounded by their friends and family!
