Our Wedding

Aaron and Christina's first date was on June 20, 2016; on their first three dates they stayed so long at the restaurants that they got kicked out at closing time. They've been together ever since. They've traveled around the country, watched many many movies, played a lot of fantasy football, and won at a lot of Gritty's Stump Trivia nights. The first time Aaron told Christina he loved her was while they were watching a Green Bay Packers game on TV.

The Beginning

For Christmas 2017, Aaron surprised Christina and her family with tickets and sideline passes to a 2018 Green Bay Packers game at Lambeau Field! Christina and her father Gus are lifelong Packers fans and Lambeau is iconic no matter which team you root for. Aaron, Christina, and Christina's parents Patti and Gus spent September 29th, 2018 touring Lambeau Field and visiting the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame.

On September 30th, 2018, they all returned to Lambeau for a game versus the Buffalo Bills. Before the game, they were able to go down to the sideline while the players warmed up - a really cool experience. While Patti snapped photos of Christina and Aaron in the end zone, Aaron pulled a ring out of his pocket, got down on one knee, and asked Christina to marry him. (Spoiler alert: she said "yes!") The ring, Aaron's grandmother's 1936 engagement ring, fit perfectly.

He admires her… everything.

Song that reminds him of her: "Brown Eyed Girl."

Song that reminds her of him: “Fire Escape” by Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness.

Her favorite trip with him: Nashville in August 2017 (the time when she didn’t break her foot…) when they ate everything, recorded a Taylor Swift song at the Ryman Auditorium, read by the pool, and watched Game 5 of the 1995 ALDS on Aaron’s laptop.

His favorite trip with her: California, when we toured the Warner Brothers Studio!

A great memory (hers): Terrific Lady Day!

A great memory (his): coming up with our nicknames for each other while in Nashville - Bear and Cub!

Why she’s perfect for him: she loves and accepts him for who he is.

When she knew: she left a weekend away early to come home because she missed him.

The Westin Portland Harborview

There are a ton of hotels in and around the Old Port area in Portland, if you can’t stay at the Westin or prefer not to. Here are some good options within a mile of our venue: The Press Hotel, 0.6 miles away (Christina’s favorite, a fun splurge; it is in the former Portland Press Herald newspaper building and themed accordingly)Portland Harbor Hotel, 0.5 miles away Holiday Inn Portland-by-the-Bay, 0.2 miles away Hyatt Place Portland Old Port, 0.6 miles away Courtyard by Marriott Portland Downtown, 0.6 miles awayThe Danforth, 0.5 miles away (an inn in an 1823 mansion)Portland Regency Hotel & Spa, 0.7 miles awayHilton Garden Inn Portland Downtown Waterfront, 0.9 miles away

Other Accommodations: Old Port Area

Sometimes it's much less expensive to fly into Boston than Portland; we like to take the Concord Coach Lines bus between Boston and Portland rather than driving and parking! It is about an hour and forty-five minute drive from the Boston airport to Portland.

Boston - Logan International Airport

Those flying in and out of Boston may rather take the bus between locations than rent a car and drive. Aaron and I regularly take the Concord bus to the airport and back when we fly out of Boston!

Concord Coach Lines

We use Lyft to get around Portland when we aren't driving or don't want to! You can download the app on your phone for free.

Lyft

There are also plenty of cute Airbnb offerings in the Portland area, likely at a lower price than some of the hotels! (If you use our invite link below - where it says "Book a Room" - we may earn rewards we can put toward our honeymoon!)

Airbnb

There are two hotels right at the Portland Jetport, if you are interested in staying closer to the airport! Remember, there is a free shuttle from the Jetport to the Westin (wedding venue). The airport is 3.5 miles from the venue, or about a 15-minute drive. Hilton Garden Inn Portland Airport Embassy Suites by Hilton

Portland Head Lighthouse

Every weekend you can find funky antique and vintage finds at the Flea-For-All. Great for shopping or just browsing! Right around the corner from the wedding venue, it's only a two-minute walk.

Portland Flea-for-All

This 19th-century Italian villa–style home with an ornate interior offers tours & a museum shop. It's one of Anna Kendrick's favorite spots to visit when she's home in Maine and it's a seven-minute walk or three-minute drive from the wedding venue.

Victoria Mansion

Christina the bibliophile recommends this great local bookshop in Monument Square, only a three-minute drive or nine-minute walk from the wedding venue.

Longfellow Books

Delicious desserts with fun flavors and clever names await you at Gelato Fiasco. (They also have dairy-free sorbettos, coffee, cookies, and board games to play while you enjoy your treats!) It's a five-minute drive or 12-minute walk from the wedding venue.

The Gelato Fiasco Old Port

Imaginative donuts are made with potatoes & local ingredients at this artisanal dessert shop. The Food Network's Alton Brown is a fan and so are we! It's a six-minute drive or thirteen-minute walk from the wedding venue.

The Holy Donut

Only a four-minute walk or two-minute drive from the wedding venue, Taco Escobarr has indoor and outdoor seating and a yummy menu; it's also open until 1am every day. One of Aaron's favorites!

Taco Escobarr

"THERE ARE TVs IN THE BOOTHS!" - Aaron(It's a sports bar.)

Binga's Stadium

Aaron enjoys just a regular pepperoni pie at Otto, but the pizza joint offers many creative concoctions, including mashed potato with bacon, three-cheese tortellini, and pulled pork. (They also have vegan pies.) It's only a three-minute walk from the wedding venue.

OTTO

About a five-minute drive toward the water, Christina's favorite Old Port pizza is at Flatbread Company, down on Casco Bay. Flatbread offers all-natural wood-fired clay oven pizza using local and organic ingredients; Christina's recommendation is the classic Jay's Heart. (They also have vegan options.)

Flatbread Company

Eventide is popular with seafood fans and celebs traveling through Portland. Food Network's Alton Brown's take: "The best bite(s) of the day go to Eventide. And this is the first time where I’ve had multiple items that I just couldn’t choose from. If you twisted my arm, I would probably have to choose the Fried Oyster Bun. Unlike anything I’ve ever tasted and each layer was perfectly seasoned. Then I would have to go with their Brown Butter Lobster Roll. I’m not sure what I enjoyed more: the lobster or the bun. Yeah, their homemade buns are that good."Eventide is open until midnight most days and is a four-minute drive or fifteen-minute walk from the wedding venue.
