Our Wedding

As most of you know, Brian and I met through online dating! What makes it so special is that I was the one who sent the first message. Not only that - I sent the message on Brian’s birthday! He was winding down after celebrating his special day and told me he was sitting out in the backyard with his favorite drink (tequila with a splash of lime juice) and he got a message from me. Now that’s a date we’ll never forget! We ended up going out on our first date on July 11 and we now consider this our anniversary. We met for drinks at Bricks and Barley in Shelton (which is now called The Pub) and the rest is history! We've been inseparable since. Many of our dates involved trips to breweries and wineries which has inspired our rustic winery theme for our wedding day. A winery is actually where Brian popped the question. On December 22 2017 Brian and I decided to both take the day off before our Christmas break. We planned to pack up some snacks and hang out at Hawk Ridge Winery in Watertown together for the afternoon (something we do quite often). We spent time sipping samples of wine and when I slipped away to the bathroom Brian handed a handmade box to the owner - instructing him to bring the box over after we’d set up our table by the fireplace to enjoy a bottle together. I noticed Brian was more quiet than usual during our tasting but didn’t think anything of it. As we sat by the fireplace the owner eventually came over and told Brian and I we were the 2000th customers at the winery. I was so pumped thinking it meant we’d get a free bottle or something involving free stuff. But I looked back at Brian and he was on one knee! My first words were “no way!” but obviously it was out of shock and the real answer was YES! #swearittobarrett
