The shuttle bus will be picking up guests at Doubletree in downtown Asheville at 3:40 PM and departing at 3:50 PM—- then the bus will pick up remaining guests from Crowne Plaza at 4:00 PM departing at 4:10 PM.   The bus will be leaving the wedding at 10:15 PM if in need of an early departure, and at 11:15 PM (we hope you all stay and party til 11:15!)

Our Wedding

Alex and Christina met at a concert in West Asheville in June 2014. It was not a River Whyless concert, which is good, because Christina probably would not have been impressed by Alex if it had been. A wise woman, she has always been skeptical of men who play in bands and/or ride motorcycles. But they had one very important thing in common: they were both living in vintage travel trailers in a friend's backyard (which was technically illegal). Introduced at the show by Ryan and Alyson O'Keefe, Alex and Christina talked about the virtues and tribulations of living the minimalist lifestyle. Later that night, Christina asked Alex for his number, and soon the two were bonding over more than just the smallness of their living spaces. They went mountain biking and camping in Pisgah National Forest; they cooked for each other; they travelled together. And, yes, eventually Christina agreed to go for a ride on the back of Alex's motorcycle. At some point during all the excitement, they fell in love. Today Alex and Christina live together in a house they designed together out in the woods of Swannanoa. The land on which their house stands was purchased in conjunction with none other than master match-makers Ryan and Alyson O'Keefe, and the two couples are now neighbors. Christina works as an Occupational Therapy Assistant and fitness instructor; Alex teaches creative writing at Warren Wilson College and, with Christina's blessing, tours with River Whyless. They have a dog named Ringo and a cat named Mochi.

Our Story

We have blocked 10 rooms at the Crowne Plaza for possible reservation by our wedding guests. The block will remain in place until 5/18/22 (one month before the wedding), so book before that in order to secure a room and/or a special rate. Crowne Plaza is located on the outskirts of downtown Asheville. It is NOT walking distance from the center of downtown; rather, it's approximately a five-minute drive. The Omni Grove Park Inn

Get your reservations ASAP, because this place is the most sought after tapas restaurant in Asheville! We love the fried eggplant, calamari sandwich, and basically everything on their menu.

Excellent tacos located in the River Arts District with lots of other breweries, art studios, and best of all: the French Broad River Greenway nearby.

White Duck Taco Shop

This is Tina's favorite cafe and breakfast/brunch spot in town. Lots of outdoor seating and good vibes.

Liberty House Coffee and Café

By far the best beer in Asheville- located in the hippest part of town too- "South Slope". Walking distance from most hotels and great location to sit outside to have a beer, frozen wine slushee (so good I promise!), and bites to eat.

Burial Beer Co.

Great place to walk around with the fam- there's lots of good breweries and food stops along the way: New Belgium, The Wedge, Twelve Bones, Smoky Park Supper Club... to name a few.

French Broad River Greenway

Steep 7 mile hike in Pisgah National Forest- an area about 45 minutes away from Asheville with tons of great hiking.
