We are so excited to see you all and to have you celebrate our special day with us! Please find a few commonly asked questions below
Can I bring my kids?
This is an adults only event. Our Flower Girl and her little brother will be the only exceptions. Please be respectful of who the invitation is addressed to. For those mamas who are exclusively breastfeeding your baby, please text either the bride or the groom for further discussion.
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
We are planning an outdoor wedding! The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outside, reception inside the barn. Please dress appropriately for the weather. We are hoping for a beautiful, warm, early October day! If it does rain or some other inclement weather arises, the venue has an indoor space we can use. We have been told the venue has space heaters if needed but does NOT have air conditioning.
Are there different locations for the venue and the reception?
No! Everything from parking to the ceremony to the cocktail hour to the reception is all on site!
Will There Be A Shuttle?
YES! We have contracted someone to make 1 run prior to the wedding to bring our guests to the venue. This will leave the Holiday Inn in Mankato at PROMPTLY 3:30pm. They say they can fit approximately 30 people, so please plan accordingly! There will be 2 trips back to Holiday Inn, Mankato during the reception. This is free for guest use but they do appreciate tips! PLEASE DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. If you do choose to drive to the venue and use the shuttle back to the hotel, please get your car from the venue by 8AM on Sunday.
I see the name of the venue is "The Barn at Ballard Creek", is this actually a barn?
Yes! One of the reasons why Chrissy and Matt chose this location is because it is a real farm with various farm animals and they do grow some crops. There is not a creek nearby though, interestingly enough... That said, please be understanding of any unfortunate smells that may be brought in by the wind. The venue has assured us that this is not normally an issue, but we all know mother nature has a mind of her own. Additionally, please be aware that any fields of crops are not to be messed with. The sweet family who owns the venue lives on site and this is part of how they make their living.
What's the Dress Code?
While we know that Chrissy and Matt love their sweatpants, this is a semi-formal event. No jeans, shorts, or sun dresses please. For the guys: Suits preferred, dress pants and a collar shirt is also just fine with us! For the gals: any length dress is fine with us as long as it's appropriately fancy, dressier romper, jumpsuits, pants suit also okay.
What are your wedding colors?
Dark navy, grey and champagne gold
Do you have a room block set up?
Unfortunately, no. The local college is having their homecoming weekend this same weekend and hotels were unable to extend a block for us. There are plenty of hotels in the area! The Bride and Groom will be staying at The Holiday Inn, Mankato. Please see the Travel tab at the top of the page to find a few hotels that have been recommended to us.
Do you have any recomendations of things to do in town?
No idea! Since neither Matt or Chrissy are from the area, they have no idea where to eat or what fun things there might be to do. There is a small mall that has a number of stores, there are a large number of restaurants around town, everything from fast-food, to bar food to fancier restaurants as well.
Can I bring a guest?
Unless specified on your invitation, no. Unfortunately, due to space constraints we cannot accommodate everyone bringing a guest.
What time should I arrive for the Ceremony?
We ask that you arrive approximately 15-20 minutes prior to the ceremony start time to be able to park, walk to the ceremony space, and be seated prior to the ceremony starting. Ceremony will start at 4pm.
Where should I park?
Should you choose to drive instead of using the shuttle, there is a parking field on site in front of the venue.
Will there be an open bar?
To a point, yes! We have arranged to have an open bar up to a certain dollar amount, after that it is a cash bar.
