Max and Christine's love story began with a serendipitous swipe on Tinder in October 2017. Despite Christine's initial skepticism of online dating, their connection was undeniable. After a week of virtual conversations (and a thorough background check done by Christine), they met in person on their first date at Jake's Burgers in Brookfield. The date went so well, they hung out the following day, and the rest is history.
From 2017 to mid-2018, they navigated the challenges of long distance while Christine pursued her associates degree at WCTC. Upon graduation, she moved to downtown Milwaukee to complete her bachelor's degree and be closer to Max. Max followed suit, graduating from UW Milwaukee and staying downtown to support Christine's studies.
In 2019, they took their relationship to the next level, moving into their first apartment together in Shorewood. They cherished their two years there until Christine's graduation in 2020. Christine’s senior year was thrown into disarray by the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing them to spend the lockdown in their cozy 800-square-foot apartment. Despite the uncertainty and confinement, they emerged stronger, their bond deepened by shared experiences and unwavering love.
2021 presented their most formidable challenge yet. Max's company relocated him to Wausau, Wisconsin, for an important project, forcing them back into a long-distance arrangement. Christine moved in with her close friend Emily, while Max made the 3-hour commute every weekend to be with her. Christine credits Max's dedication to their relationship as the anchor that held them together during this trying time.
In January 2022, Max finally returned home, and they settled into a new rental house in Wauwatosa. In October 2022, Max orchestrated a surprise trip to Door County, claiming it was for Christine's first time visiting. On October 1st, during a stroll on Egg Harbor Beach, Max got down on one knee and, shaking, asked Christine to marry him. Through tears and excitement, Christine managed to get out the words “are you sure” and the two laughed as he placed the ring on her finger. Much like everything else in their relationship, the ring was a perfect fit. Their blissful weekend in Door County was the perfect prelude to sharing the joyous news with their families on the way home.
