The address is 3073 F Road, Grand Junction, CO 81504.
The main entrance is flanked by 2 large white signs: "Cross Orchards Agriculture and Transportation Museum" (faces west), and "Cross Orchards Historic Site" (faces east).
Park anywhere; plenty of parking is available. Look for the big green barn.
Casual. We want you be comfortable! You will be visiting an historic site with uneven ground. High heels are NOT recommended due to gravel, wood walkways, and knotholes in the barn floor. Also, dress in layers. See the question about weather, next.
Spring weather on Colorado's Western Slope can be anything! So, be prepared for anything.
The normal high and low for March 19th is 60 and 32. Beautiful!
The record low is 14 and the record high is 81! It has even snowed on this date.
Dressing in layers is strongly recommended, and you are welcome to bring other items of comfort such as blankets.
Matt will be onsite all day, so you may come as early as you'd like! If you're not familiar with Cross, the bunkhouse, the barn, and all outdoor displays will be open for exploring. Don't worry if you're running late. Feel welcome to get here when you get here.
Wherever you would like. There are no "sides" and no assigned seating. Sit with whomever you'd like and make new friends. Sets of conversation starters will be included on the tables.
A note about the photo below: This is not of Cross Orchards' barn, but does show the ambiance we are wanting to create with white lights, white tablecloths, and white chairs.
There will be appetizers and drinks, music, historic games, antique fire truck rides, and table games for all ages available.
Only one, Herbie the barn cat. Herbie was found in the herb garden (hence his name), he lives around and under the bunk house adjacent to the barn, and he is cared for by Cross staff and volunteers. The photo shows Herbie with Cross volunteer, Pete. If you catch sight of Herbie, consider yourself very lucky, as he is shy.
Yes! IF your dog is well behaved and well socialized. Along with Skye, our dog, Matt's parent's Shelties (Pete, Joe, and Phoebe) will be in attendance.
Slim Pickings, a local bluegrass band. They often play at Cross for farmers markets and special events.
Yes! We will ensure that all cash and checks received get deposited in a separate account we have set up for this fund. We will have a locked box for cards and envelopes at the wedding and reception. After the wedding we will invest the total in a CD to earn interest until the time arrives to take the trip.
