Who knew such an amazing Union could have been the result of a perfectly curated Hinge profile? Davis did obviously! Everything from the captivating pictures of himself, to the witty and undeniably charming captions he wrote, just screamed he knew it would be the perfect lure to get Christine to type out the cheesiest first move ever.

Our story

·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;(Ok Christine….said I can’t be “funny” anymore… )From there the two really hit it off! Since both of them worked in hospitals with pediatric oncology patients (a.k.a. cancer kiddos) there were a lot of similarities and stories to share! Over time they would go on to text back and forth daily. What about??? Anything and Everything!!! Their crazy yet amazing roommates, their church/call to serve, Coffee spots, Arizona Cardinals, Taco Bell, Pokémon (specifically Emerald), shared disgust of marshmallows, their best friends’ weddings(now best man and matron of honor), and much more! Overall learning more about each other and enjoying the witty and humorous banter along the way.

Hinge Convo's

It was time to make it out of the chat and meet in person at the Santa Anita Mall. Thinking he would have lied about his height, Christine brought a tape measure so she could (humorously) find out if he was telling the truth about being 6'2". Much to her surprise he had come to lowball that number, as Hinge didn’t have the option to put 6'2" and ¾’s. The two made their way to Bowlero, where Davis made a calculated decision to take a loss and keep his future wife pleased :) .&nbsp;After Christine secured her celebratory Cinnabon (paid for by the loser…), the two took their date to Old Town Pasadena where Davis had a Photo scavenger hunt meticulously planned out. Not knowing if this chick was crazy, Davis decided not to tell a soul about this date.***Enter Mr. and Mrs. Key***….who just so happened to be withdrawing money from the nearby Wells Fargo at the same time Davis and Christine were walking back from the Colorado Bridge. The Key’s wisdom and foresight compelled them to take Davis and Christine’s first picture together as a couple! (look at the fear in his eyes…he’s practically saying “That’s it…now everyone at church will know about this girl…”)

After a nice chat with the Keys and grabbing a dessert, the date was coming to a close and Davis walked her back to her car. Though it had been a pleasant time, Davis couldn’t help thinking that most of their conversations were surprisingly surface level. Knowing that they lived a thousand miles away from each other, he couldn’t shake the urge to ask her to stay and talk about meaningful topics and their possible compatibility. (*Davis later realized it was gentle slap to back of the head from God telling him not to be shy!) So he decided to pull the trigger and asked her to stay a little longer. She smiled, happily agreed, and began to walk with him towards Pasadena City Hall!To this day Christine, Davis and Historians now look back at this pivotal decision to continue the date, and refer to it as the “Pasadena 5k.”&nbsp;Why you ask? It seemed the more they opened up and learned about each other, the less they realized how many steps they got in that fateful night, on the second story track of Pasadena City Hall.

Needless to say, the two enjoyed their time together and couldn’t wait to meet again. Fueled on cheap Arco gasoline and a passion to grow their relationship, Christine and Davis would go on to drive many miles to see each other, despite the distance between their living arrangements in Monrovia and Loma Linda (approx. 50miles).However, they didn’t seem to mind, as the hour drive seemed to get shorter the more they drove out to see each other. Over the course of 2 years, the two created so many fond memories and fell deeper in love. Pictured below are some of our favorite dates and/or times together.

Making Memories

All these moments and more, led Davis to understand that she was the one, and that there was no doubt that God played an integral role in connecting these two.&nbsp;On November 23rd, 2024, Davis brought her back to their meaningful spot at Pasadena City Hall and proposed to Christine.

I've known Tabi for almost a decade now! We met in Walla Walla University during our undergrad days and got closer through our shared responsibilities in APIC (asian-pacific islander club) and Health Science classes. We graduated together in 2018...but we ended up crossing paths again in Loma Linda soon after! Through our shared love of food, beach, and navigating our way around SoCal --- I knew that near or far, our friendship is a forever thing. Tabi is the type of person who lights up the room with her presence (literally a walking sunshine), a loyal friend who always listens first, and someone who's down for an adventure (both food and outdoors lol).

Cindy and I were both in the same nursing cohort in LLU. We both initially thought that we met through classes, but our first interaction was our part-time work orientation in LLU. On our way back to the dorm after orientation, I remember tripping over something and my toe started bleeding... and Cindy was there to the rescue! As a nursing student, she had a first aid kit ready with a bandaid to help me. Even back then, she was already looking out for me  --- a natural clumsy girl who had no sense of direction (almost always).  Cindy is the mother hen of the group, always looking out for her loved ones even before herself. She has a big heart and cares for others 110%. She loves food as much as I do and she's always down to hang out whenever and wherever. With our shared affinity for quality time - -- you can catch us yapping at a cafe or strolling around Costco all afternoon.

Hayden Wideman

Kana and I met through nursing school and have been inseparable since then. In our trio (Kana, Cindy, and I), Kana has always been the middle person -- trying to balance out the craziness of the group. While initially quiet, Kana makes her presence known through her natural affinity towards acts of service. During nursing school, Kana and her reliable Mochi the Toyota Sienna would rescue me lol --- be it through DMV appointments or driving all the way to LAX and picking me up after the holidays. Our shared feeling of FOMO has made us spend time with each other spontaneously throughout the years -- be it at the beach, park, or at a random Taco Bell in Diamond Bar. Kana is a caring person and will go out of her way for the people she cares about near or far.

Trish and I have known each other since nursing school. She was one of the first people I became friends with #filipinomafia along with our good friend Danilo (JR). We were both blessed to work in the same hospital AND unit after nursing school. She's my work wife and forever friend! Trish is smart but VERY humble about it; calm and collected so she balances out my emotional tendencies; and loyal towards her loved ones. Need help for a last minute setup for a party? She got you.  Knows that after a long hard shift all you want is chicken and rice? She got you.

Jessica Faith -- truly a God-given friend just based on how we met -- through a random search for a roommate via Facebook. When we first started talking, I knew that we both have the same preferences (ideal for a roommate). I was like, yeah I think we will work out! Thankfully we moved past the roommate phase and became friends. Jess has become a sister in Christ and was truly pivotal in helping me in my faith journey with God. She was there for me when I was going through the hills and valleys of life and was always there to point me back to Christ. Even if we're states apart now, when we meet/talk to each other,  it feels like we're just right across the hallway in our house in Loma Linda.

Ty Loomis

I first knew Dr Caryn Coleman as Ms Caryn Ausenhus --  the super friendly new housemate that is also Jess's med school classmate. Her bright personality shined through even with our first interaction. She made our Loma Linda house feel like home with her presence and DIY decorations. Caryn is the best hype woman, baker of scones, best way to get yourself become a Swiftie, and overall the best of friend. We both went through our "catch rona not feelings" phase and also our "simp for the Pasa bois" phase. Caryn makes you feel known and cared for -- even being my personal doctor and chef when I got all my wisdom teeth pulled out despite her busy baby MD schedule. Caryn loves God deeply and she also has helped me to stay rooted in Christ. When I was going through something difficult, she took the time to write out memory verses -- many of which I kept in my car so I can look at them as I drive off to work!

Johnny Bolinger

Dandee and I first met at a potluck party in Walla Walla in 2015. What got my attention is that she's a Filipino that could SPEAK Tagalog. We both spoke in Tagalog and the rest was history! My favorite memories involve us going around downtown Walla Walla to study at the Patisserie and the library of Whitman College and catching grignon by the beaches of San Diego. Although we graduated in WWU during different years, we crossed paths again in Loma Linda when she became one of my housemates in 2021. We've been together since then. Dandee is creative but lowkey about it; you'd think she's quiet but when you get to know her, she's loud like me LOL; and we both share a love for good hojicha, food spots particularly KBBQ, and understands my love for Pokemon. As a trained counselor (double masters!), Dandee understands the nuances of relationships and is able to lovingly give me advice -- but not as a counselor but as a friend. She lets you open up when you're ready, and she's there to listen to you fully when you're ready.

Other than the Rose Bowl Stadium, people often think of this iconic landmark when thinking of Pasadena -- yup the Pasadena City Hall! During Christine and Davis's first date, their last stop (which eventually started the first of many adventures!) is the Pasadena City Hall. Davis mustered up the courage and asked Christine to walk around the building to talk more. They walked around, over, under the building so many times that it felt like they did a 5k run/walk! Their 5k walk-talk made them realize that they can make things work. :) Pasadena City Hall became a more meaningful place to them as this is where they first said their "i love you's" and also where Davis got weak in the knees and proposed to Christine.

If you're looking for an all-day excursion near Pasadena, then this spot is for you! Parking is free -- admission for adults is $29, but if you have a student ID you can get a discount an pay $24 instead. You don't have to spend the entire day here, but if you're a label/engraved plaque reader like I am (christine), then you might want to wear some comfy shoes and sandals because you're going to get your 10k steps in! Make sure you take the time to smell the roses (lol) and visit the gift shop! They sell some cute Jellycat plushies FYI...

The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens

Located right across THE Wells Fargo where the Keys saw us on our first date, Norton Museum is also a walking distance from our venue! The museum is closed on Tues-Wed. Admission is $20 for adults -- and FREE if you have a student ID with you. You can reminisce about your college art assignments here (like what Davis is doing in this picture..) or soak in the ~aesthetic and culture~ of being in the presence of fine art ;P

to those who know Christine - you know that she would spend her days off work trying to look for a coffee shop she can chill at! Listed below are her go-to spots and go-to drinks around Pasadena: 1. Fika-Fika in Arcadia: Jasmine or ube latte with soy milk + fika blend + 50% sweetness [and a side of popcorn chicken!] 2. Artisanal Goods by CAR: Vanilla latte with oatmilk + almond croissant (if you're lucky try their ricotta pesto danish!) 3. Mandarin Coffee Stand: Gui Ha latte with oatmilk or Vienna latte 4. Republik: Purple Caramel latte (Caryn's favorite drink here too!) 5. Philz: Iced Mint Mojito Coffee all the way! 6. Ideology Coffee: Caramel or vanilla latte! (oat/whole)
